The Guardians prevailed last night in an 8-3 drubbing of the Red Sox.<\/p>\n Both teams are hovering at or around .500 with the Sox at 49-49 and the Guardians at 49-47. Veteran righty Nathan Eovaldi gets the nod for Boston, while the 27 year-old Cal Quantrill toes the rubber for Cleveland. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 PM EST\/4:10 PST.<\/p>\n The Boston Red Sox limp into the contest after losing 8-3 last night and dropping their record to .500. Rookie starter Josh Winckowski got touched up for five runs on six hits in only three innings on the mound.<\/p>\n Xander Bogaerts went 3 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI. Red Sox Nation is missing two of their best hitters as Rafael Devers and Trevor Story are both on the IL. Nathan Eovaldi will be taking coming off his worst outing of the season.<\/p>\n He was embarrassed against the Toronto Blue Jays as he was hammered for eight runs on nine hits in only 2.2 innings. Eovaldi is 4-3 on the season with a 4.30 ERA and 1.23 WHIP.<\/p>\n The Cleveland Guardians will lean on Cal Quantrill in hopes of winning their fourth straight game with him on the mound. Quantrill is 7-5 on the season with s 3.75 ERA and 1.30 WHIP.<\/p>\n He held the Red Sox to two runs in five innings in a 6-3 loss in his lone start against them. The Guardians evened up the series 1-1 with a 8-3 victory. It was a bullpen game for Cleveland as Kirk McCarty threw four scoreless innings to become the pitcher of record.<\/p>\n Leadoff man Steve Kwan stayed hot, going 3 for 5 while scoring a run. The Guardians will look to improve on a 24-28 road record at Fenway Park on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Bookmakers are expecting a close game with the Boston Red Sox money line set at -130 and the Cleveland Guardians set at +110 with a total of 9. The Red Sox lineup is extremely short-handed without both Rafael Devers and Trevor Story on the IL.<\/p>\n Quantrill is basically a lock for 5-6 innings and 2-3 runs allowed and Cleveland has a dominant bullpen. They rank 3rd in FIP and 5th in xFIP since the All-Star break. Eovaldi was rocked last time out, but Cleveland isn’t Toronto and he was solid in his prior five outings.
