European Qualification<\/h3>\n
It\u2019s no surprise to see last season\u2019s top six finishers – Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester United – all be favored to repeat the success of last year, but let\u2019s dig into the numbers a little to see if we can spy some value on a potential outsider.<\/p>\n
After an incredibly poor start to last season which culminated in a 4-1 thrashing against then Championship side Nottingham Forest over in the FA Cup, Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers laid down the hammer with the team and told them in no uncertain terms that places were on the line from that point on.<\/p>\n
That seemed to have lit a fire under this Leicester squad as from February 28th when they sat down in 13th in the league with just seven wins all season, they then went on from March 1st on to rank as the fourth-best team in the league banking 25 points from their final 15 games.<\/p>\n
A return to form for the Foxes would not be a surprise here and at +500 they arguably present the best value to get back inside the top six for this season.<\/p>\n
Premier League Tricast<\/h3>\n
We already covered in a previous article how, even at odds of -165, Manchester City still had value to take the outright title this year, so in terms of a tricast who are we backing to take the No. 2 and No. 3 spots?<\/p>\n
The Manchester City\/Liverpool\/Tottenham tricast is the bookies’ overall favorite this year going off at a +700 and while that wouldn\u2019t be a complete surprise this season, especially considering how well Tottenham has looked since Antonio Conte took charge back at the start of November, we believe Chelsea presents better value to get back in the mix at current odds.<\/p>\n
The much-vaunted return of striker Romelu Lukaku to Stamford Bridge last season just hasn\u2019t worked out for the Belgian striker and he\u2019s headed back to Italy on loan this summer as tensions between him and manager Thomas Tuchel continue to boil over.<\/p>\n
While the loss of a striker of Lukaku\u2019s obvious talent might be seen as a detriment to a team, in this case it isn\u2019t and Chelsea played far better without him throughout most of the season, as was the case in their quarterfinal second leg against eventual tournament winners Real Madrid where the Blues stunned \u2018Los Blancos\u2019 with an electric performance which seen them take a 3-0 lead in that game, with Timo Werner especially on form.<\/p>\n
Chelsea has a ton of talent at their disposal ahead of this season, they\u2019ve off-loaded a huge dressing room problem in Lukaku and have the cloud of Russian sanctions cleared over them with new owner Todd Boehly taking the helm and we like Chelsea to get back to challenging for the title this year with a much rejuvenated effort in 2022\/23.<\/p>\n
Take the Manchester City\/Chelsea\/Liverpool tricast at huge odds of +1400 as the best value on the board for the upcoming EPL season.
