NBA Summer League Players to Watch<\/h2>\n
The NBA Summer League officially kicked off July 2 as the Lakers, Kings and Warriors welcomed the Miami Heat to join them for a West Coast swing. The Lakers’ only draft pick, Max Christie, is looking to earn a roster spot. Notable players to keep any eye on from these teams include Sacramento\u2019s No. 4 overall pick Keegan Murray; Heat No. 27 overall pick Nikola Jovi\u0107 and Warriors’ second round pick Ryan Rollins.<\/p>\n
We’ve also got the Salt Lake Summer League consisting of the Grizzlies, 76ers, Thunder and Jazz. We could take up your entire day writing about the rookies and one-year players taking the floor for the Thunder, but for time sake key players to keep an eye on are No. 2 overall pick Chet Holmgren, No. 12 pick Jalen Williams and No. 34 pick Jaylin Williams, although much of their summer league team will compose their main roster come October. Other rookies looking to make a great first impression are David Roddy and Kennedy Chandler of the Grizzlies.<\/p>\n
Vegas Summer League<\/h3>\n
The biggest summer league of the offseason is the NBA2K23 Summer League starting July 7 in Las Vegas in which all 30 teams will be participating. Each team will play four games in which the top two teams from those games playing in the championship on July 17. There is a number of criteria to determine a tie of records at the top of the standings.<\/p>\n
Players not mentioned that could impact summer league records including Jaden Ivey (Pistons No. 5 pick), Jabari Smith Jr. (Rockets No. 3 pick) and of course Paolo Banchero (Magic No. 1 pick).<\/p>\n
We\u2019re going with the Thunder to win the NBA 2K23 Summer League<\/strong> as they hold the most quantity of talent in this summer league with their three picks previously mentioned as well as a number of second year players who played big minutes in the NBA last season. Look for both Jalen and Jaylin Williams attempt to earn a critical role in the offense for the upcoming NBA season and for Holmgren along with Aleksej Pokusevski to establish themselves as the newly named \u201cTwin Towers\u201d.<\/p>\n Another team to keep an eye on are the Magic who also have a slew of young talent in addition to Banchero including Caleb Houstan, Ignas Brazdeikis as well as Mo and Franz Wagner. All of these players attended Michigan and have similar playing styles so it shouldn\u2019t take too long for them all to gel together once summer league gets going.
