Viking vs Rosenborg Analysis<\/h2>\n

We’ve got a top-six matchup on Sunday over in the Norwegian Eliteserien as third-place Viking plays host to sixth-place Rosenborg with only four points separating the two sides ahead of this weekend\u2019s clash.<\/p>\n

Rosenborg is in some decent form heading into Sunday\u2019s game, losing just one of their last six games overall and amassing a respectable 1.60 points per game across their last five starts also.<\/p>\n

Viking meanwhile, former league leaders back at the start of the season, has hit something of a roadblock, going winless across their last five starts and generating just 0.40 points per game across that run as well.<\/p>\n

Viking has won three of their last four matches against Rosenborg overall but did suffer a 5-0 demolition against them in May of last year.<\/p>\n

Rosenborg Continues To Maintain High-Level Defense<\/h3>\n

Rosenborg has continued to maintain an effective defense this season, giving up the third-fewest goals in the league this year behind only the top two sides of Lillestrom and Molde.<\/p>\n

That defensive success is backed up by Rosenborg\u2019s data as well this season with the \u2018Troillongan\u2019 ranking as the fourth-best team in the league overall in terms of expected goals against this year.<\/p>\n

Viking In Some Seriously Shoddy Form<\/h3>\n

It\u2019s been three straight losses on the bounce for Viking heading into Sunday\u2019s game and the Stavenger-based club will really need to stem that tide if they want to remain title contenders for the remainder of the season.<\/p>\n

A major part of that trouble for Viking has been their inability to stop opposing teams in attack, giving up an average of 3.0 goals per game across each of their last three losses and keeping no clean sheets across their last five game run as well.

Viking\u2019s overall data remains some of the best in the league right now ranking No. 1 in overall expected goals, No. 2 in expected goals at home, No. 3 in expected goals against and No. 3 in expected goals against at home, so we do expect the south-western based club to bounce back in the league at some stage.<\/p>\n

However saying that, there\u2019s simply no denying their brutal run of form right now and because of it we simply have to take a look at Rosenborg catching a +0.75 handicap headstart<\/strong> on the road in this one.<\/p>\n

Rosenborg has lost just one of their last three league games overall on the road and that came against an excellent team in league-leaders Lillestrom, so Rosenborg have shown how difficult they can be to beat this season and that should be no different here on Sunday against Viking.<\/p>\n
