DC United vs Nashville SC Analysis<\/h2>\n

Despite having the joint-fewest points in the MLS so far this season, DC comes into this match as home favorites over a very good Nashville team (quarterfinalists from a year ago), and currently in the thick of the playoff race. The weather looks good for the match with a gametime high near 90 degrees and no rain in sight.<\/p>\n

Nashville\u2019s Eyes Set on the Prize<\/h3>\n

Nashville once again looks like a team primed to make a deep run in the MLS playoffs. While they are probably disappointed to be sitting sixth in the Eastern Conference right now, their underlying numbers are solid and suggest they should have no problem qualifying for the postseason.<\/p>\n

Nashville is coming off a loss vs Kansas City last weekend, but prior to that had lost just one of their last nine games including two US Open Cup matches.<\/p>\n

Last season, Nashville finished with the fifth-best xG differential in the league at +0.31 per game thanks to allowing just 1.10 xG, which was the second-fewest in the league, behind only NYCFC\u2019s 1.09.<\/p>\n

Nearing the halfway point of this season, they are proving last year was no fluke as they have nearly identical numbers with a +0.33 xG differential, currently seventh-best in the league, while allowing just 1.18 xGA.<\/p>\n

Defense Not DC\u2019s Forte<\/h3>\n

DC United missed the playoffs by one point last year despite having the fourth-best xG differential at +0.31 per game as they allowed a respectable 1.28 xGA. However, those numbers seem to by an outlier as DC had a -0.19 xG differential in 2019 and followed that up with a -0.63 differential in 2020. Similarly, they allowed 1.49 xGA and 1.62 xGA those two seasons, respectively.<\/p>\n

This year, they are right back to their woeful defensive ways as they are allowing 1.58 xGA and own a -0.31 xG differential. As expected, their results on the season have not been good as they have won just four of 14 matches, including going winless in their last six.<\/p>\n

DC United vs Nashville SC Prediction<\/h2>\n

It\u2019s all about the defense. One of my favorite sure-fire wagers is grabbing + goals with the better defensive side. It also doesn\u2019t hurt that Nashville has never lost to DC United. Albeit a short history, Nashville has two wins and a draw in three all-time meetings. Don\u2019t bet on DC United getting their first win over Nashville on Saturday and take the head start on Nashville +0.25 (-115)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
