UCD vs Derry City Analysis<\/h2>\n

Derry City, who started the season off on fire ranking top of the Irish Premier Division with eight wins from their opening ten games, has now faltered considerably over recent starts, going winless across their last seven games.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s dropped the Candystripes down to third in the table as they travel to a UCD side on Friday that while bottom of the league, is unbeaten in two of their last three at home.<\/p>\n

Derry On Fire Offensively<\/h3>\n

Despite their recent struggles, Derry City have been on fire offensively this season owning the league\u2019s highest-scoring offense, the league\u2019s highest-scoring road offense and the league\u2019s top xG numbers this season as well.<\/p>\n

With two of the league\u2019s top three scorers in 2022 in Jamie McGonigle and Will Patching heading into this game as well, Derry City should be able to find success against a UCD defense which has given up a colossal 2.11 goals per game to opponents this season, the league\u2019s highest goals against average.<\/p>\n

UCD Struggling To Find Form<\/h3>\n

Despite two very good draws against top-five teams in Dundalk and Sligo Rovers over recent weeks, UCD has nevertheless struggled to find form this season, winning just one game all year, that to the team immediately above them in Finn Harps, and none at home.<\/p>\n

UCD also ranks bottom of the league in pretty much every available metric this season: Scoring offense, scoring defense, expected goals average, expected goals against average, clean sheets and so on. With Derry City outscoring them 12-2 over their three most recent head-to-head meetings, it could well be another long night for UCD here on Friday.<\/p>\n

UCD vs Derry City Prediction<\/h2>\n

While Derry City has shown a tendency in recent meetings to run up the scoreboard on UCD, we don\u2019t see that being the case here on Friday and we like the under 3 goals<\/strong> in this one between Derry City and UCD.<\/p>\n

In fact, the last time these two teams played in this venue back in early April, Derry City ran out comfortable 2-0 winners and we see a very similar result here on Friday as well.<\/p>\n

Derry City has slowed down offensively from the highs of earlier in the season, scoring more than one goal just once over their last four road starts in all.<\/p>\n

Similarly, UCD have been tighter defensively at home this year, giving up just 1.44 goals per game to opponents in Dublin as opposed to 2.7 goals per game on the road.<\/p>\n
