The Athletics were swept for the third straight series, losing two games to the Atlanta Braves.<\/p>\n Young southpaw Konnor Pilkington gets a go for Cleveland, while righty James Kaprielian toes the rubber for Oakland. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 PM EST\/4:10<\/p>\n The Oakland Athletics are in rough shape as they have lost eight straight games and three straight series. Their last loss was an embarrassing 13-2 beat down at the hands of the Atlanta Braves last night.<\/p>\n Lefty Jared Koenig got his career off on the wrong foot as he allowed four runs on five hits in only four innings. Outfielder Ramon Laureano went 3 for 4 with a double, which was the only Oakland extra-base hit.<\/p>\n The A’s hitting is truly bottom of the barrel as they two runs or less in seven of their last eight games. They rank dead lagetst in batting average at .209 and on-base percentage at .274.<\/p>\n They also rank next to last in runs scored and slugging percentage. It’s been a disappointing start to the season for James Kaprielian, he is 0-3 with a 6.06 ERA and 1.35 WHIP. The Red Sox roughed him up for four earned runs in five innings of work.<\/p>\n The Cleveland Guardians snatched a 4-0 victory over the Texas Rangers in the rubber game of their three game set yesterday.<\/p>\n Shane Bieber threw 4.1 scoreless innings, but had his start cut short due to rain. The bullpen was able to complete the shutout after the delay. Jose Ramirez went 2 for 4 with an RBI double.<\/p>\n The Guardians boast an average offensive attack as they rank 19th in runs scored. They also rank 12th in batting average, 17th in on-base percentage and 20th in slugging percentage.<\/p>\n The Guardians team pitching is some of the best numbers in the game. They rank 11th in ERA, 6th in WHIP and 5th in opponent batting average. The young lefty Konnor Pilkington gets his turn in the rotation for Cleveland.<\/p>\n He is 1-0 with a 2.65 ERA in six appearances, the last three being starts. He had his best outing of the year with five scoreless innings against the Kansas City Royals.<\/p>\n The Cleveland Guardians are favored by -180 on the money line, while the Oakland A’s are +155 with a total of 8.5. The Oakland Athletics lineup is literally the worst in the MLB in my opinion.<\/p>\n Not just statistically but there isn’t a single hitter in their lineup that scares you. Kaprielian has been roughed up in each of his last three starts, allowing 13 runs in only 14.1 innings.<\/p>\n Konnor Pilkington has been going in the opposite direction with three straight solid outings.
