Stay on top of the latest MLB news and betting notes<\/a> from Vegas!<\/em><\/p>\n The Colorado Rockies and the San Francisco Giants play the last of a three game series in Oracle Park Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n The Giants took last night’s game 2-1 in 10 innings to even things up. And today southpaw Austin Gomber gets the start against right-hander Logan Webb.<\/p>\n After watching the last two games of this series, I like how both pitching staffs have performed a lot better – especially Rockies starters Marquez and Senzatela. Maybe they’ve finally gotten the reps they needed in the regular season that they didn’t get in this year’s shortened spring training.<\/p>\n I realize that one game or series by itself doesn’t make a trend. But if they continue to pitch well in the next week or two, this may be a good time to “buy low” on these teams’ pitchers in the right situations.<\/p>\n Until late May, Austin Gomber had pitched well and was one of (if not the) best starters for the Rockies. However, the last two starts – one at Coors Field and one on the road – haven’t been good. In 6.1 innings of work, the southpaw has given up 17 hits, 17 earned runs, struck out six, walked five and allowed two home runs.<\/p>\n I was pretty down on the Rox starters in the last two games, but they proved me wrong with solid performances. Maybe Gomber can do the same thing today.<\/p>\n The lineup still hits well, although Colorado has dropped to a 10th best OPS. And against right-handed pitchers, it’s 19th best at .699.<\/p>\n Logan Webb has performed really well in his 2022 campaign. In 11 starts and 66.0 innings, he has a 3.82 ERA and 1.17 WHIP with 56 strikeouts, and allowed 16 walks and five home runs.<\/p>\n He’s given up three earned runs or less in all but two of his starts, and only four earned runs in those starts. One of those was his most recent start in Miami, which was a 4.2 inning game.<\/p>\n The Giants lineup has hit well this year, with a 9th best OPS of .745 against left-handed pitching.<\/p>\n The Rockies don’t hit right handers as well as lefties – especially on the road – and Logan Webb right now is a much better pitcher than Austin Gomber. The starters will be a big key to this game, as Gomber will need to pitch well to keep Colorado close.<\/p>\n Although the Giants are a little banged up with injuries, they’re still a much better team than the Rox.
