Minnesota Twins vs New York Yankees Analysis<\/h2>\n

The New York Yankees and Minnesota Twins will meet at the Target Center for the rubber match of a three game series on Thursday night.<\/p>\n

The Yankees thumped Minnesota 10-4 on Tuesday and the Twins returned the favor with an 8-1 beat down of the Bronx Bombers yesterday.<\/p>\n

New York will send their ace Gerrit Cole to the mound, while Minnesota counters with a jobber in Dylan Bundy. First pitch is scheduled for 7:40 PM EST\/4:40 PST.<\/p>\n

Yankees Streak Snapped at Seven<\/h3>\n

The New York Yankees finally lost a game after winning seven straight as they were pounded 8-1 in Minnesota against the Twins.<\/p>\n

Nestor Cortes fell off the tracks with four runs allowed on seven hits in only 4.1 innings on the mound. The Yanks only mustered four hits and only one extra-base hit by Kyle Higashioka. It’s basically an anomaly game because this offense is an absolute wagon.<\/p>\n

They rank 6th in runs scored, 1st in wRC+, 1st in ISO and 2nd in OPS. The Bronx Bombers continue to stack wins, they have the MLB’s best record at 40-16 as they are the only team with a winning percentage above .700.<\/p>\n

New York will have a great shot at another victory here as their #1 starter Gerrit Cole gets the nod. Cole has a 5-1 record, 2.78 ERA and 0.96 WHIP with 81 strikeouts and only 15 walks across 64.2 innings of work.<\/p>\n

Cole was nearly flawless in his last outing against the Detroit Tigers, hurling seven scoreless innings while striking out nine and allowing only two hits and no free passes.<\/p>\n

Twin Wins Will Work For Minnesota<\/h3>\n

After getting blasted 10-4 against the New York Yankees on Tuesday, the Minnesota Twins struck back with an 8-1 drubbing of their own.<\/p>\n

Leadoff man and budding superstar Byron Buxton went 2 for 4 with a solo blast and two runs scored. First baseman Jose Miranda had three hits and three RBI, while former Yankee Gio Urshela went 2 for 4 with an RBI double.<\/p>\n

Serviceable starter Chris Archer set his team up for victory with five innings of one run baseball and three bullpen arms covered the final four innings. The Minnesota offense ranks 11th with 4.35 runs a game and 10th with a .725 OPS.<\/p>\n

Dylan Bundy is in the midst of another horrible campaign with a 5.75 ERA and 1.45 WHIP. Bundy reminds me of Dallas Keuchel in the sense that both had great success early in their career but have lived off that rep and been back of the rotation guys since.<\/p>\n

Obviously the similarities kind of end there but if Bundy doesn’t right the ship, he may find himself designated for assignment just like Keuchel. Bundy was rocked by the Toronto Blue Jays in his last start for six runs on eight hits (including two homeruns) in only 2.1 innings pitched.<\/p>\n

Minnesota Twins vs New York Yankees Prediction<\/h2>\n

The New York Yankees come into Minnesota as heavy road favorites with a -200 money line, compared to +170 for the Minnesota Twins with a total of 8.5. This is a pretty easy one for me with only one direction to look.<\/p>\n

The Yankees have a tremendous pitching edge with Cole going head-to-head with Bundy. Cole should limit the Twins bats with relative ease, while the Bronx Bombers make quick work of Bundy.<\/p>\n

New York also has a bullpen advantage as they rank 7th with a 3.13 ERA, while Minnesota ranks 14th with a 3.88 ERA.<\/p>\n

We already covered the advantages the Yankees lineup has in comparison to that of the Twins. Obviously we aren’t talking the -200 money line but I confidently back the -120 run line.<\/p>\n

Prediction: New York Yankees -1.5 -120<\/strong><\/p>\n
