Los Angeles Dodgers vs New York Mets Analysis<\/h2>\n

The New York Mets visit the Los Angeles Dodgers for the second in a four game series. The home team bounced back from an embarrassing three game sweep versus the Pirates, and took game one by a count of 2-0 behind another great performance from Tony Gonsolin.<\/p>\n

Tonight, right-hander Chris Bassitt takes the bump against southpaw Tyler Anderson. The Dodgers are a -150 favorite, the Mets a +140 underdog, the total is 8 with the over at -115 and the under at -105.<\/p>\n

New York Mets Betting Preview<\/h3>\n

The Mets have gotten off to a great start in 2022 even with injuries to Jacob DeGrom and Max Scherzer, with a 35-18 record good for 1st in the NL East. They’ve played well both at home and on the road, where they have a 16-10 record away from Citi Field.<\/p>\n

They’re tied for 2nd with the Rockies for OPS of .741 and a 2nd best team batting average of .265. Their only weakness at the plate is that they don’t hit lefties as well as righties, with a 14th best OPS of .714, and they face southpaw Tyler Anderson tonight.<\/p>\n

Chris Bassitt has been a solid starter for the Metropolitans this year. In 10 starts and 59.0 innings he has a 4-2 record, a 3.66 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP with 60 strikeouts. When you look under the hood at the numbers, it gives me a little cause for pause.<\/p>\n

Through four starts and 24.0 innings in April, he had a 2.25 ERA with a 0.92 WHIP. But in his six starts and 35.0 innings in the month of May, he’s put up a 4.63 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP, giving up seven home runs and 12 walks. This isn’t a good sign when you give up over one long fly per start, and your numbers jump by a significant margin.<\/p>\n

Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Preview<\/h3>\n

After last night’s solid performance, it looks like the Dodgers are back. And the Pirates series was a mini-slump and\/or a good team overlooking a bad one to play a better one in the Mets.<\/p>\n

The Dodgers are still tops in baseball with a team OPS of .766, and they’re #1 against right-handed pitchers (like tonight’s starter Chris Bassitt) with an OPS of .778.<\/p>\n

Tyler Anderson has been a pleasant surprise for Los Angeles this year. In nine starts and 49.2 innings, he’s compiled a 2.90 ERA , a 1.01 WHIP and 48 strikeouts. His control has been excellent, giving up just six walks and six home runs. And only giving up two earned runs or less in eight of his nine starts.<\/p>\n

Los Angeles Dodgers vs New York Mets Prediction<\/h2>\n

The Dodgers have a favorable starting pitching matchup with Anderson over Bassitt, bullpens are about even as these teams have the 7th and 9th lowest staff ERAs.<\/p>\n
