The Los Angeles Angels remain at Yankee Stadium for the second game of a doubleheader against the Bronx Bombers on Thursday night.<\/p>\n

The Yankees dismantled the Angels on Tuesday night, scoring four runs in the 1st inning and never looking back resulting in a 9-1 victory.<\/p>\n

It was the Angels sixth straight loss, while the Yankees snapped a two-game skid. Los Angeles hopes lefty Reid Detmers can play the role of stopper, while Jameson Taillon looks to continue his strong start. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM EST\/4:05 PST.<\/p>\n

Resilient Yankees<\/h3>\n

The New York Yankees continue to stack wins regardless of who is listed on the lineup card. They have overcome the losses of sluggers Giancarlo Stanton & Josh Donaldson as well as relievers Aroldis Chapman & Johnathan Loaisiga.<\/p>\n

In Tuesday’s 9-1 victory over Los Angeles, it was the lanky lefty Jordan Montgomery who shutdown the Angels for only one run on four hits in seven innings of work.<\/p>\n

The offensive attack was a team effort as Matt Carpenter hit a two run blast and leadoff man D.J. LeMahieu went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBI.<\/p>\n

Pitching is what holds this squad together as they are 3rd with a team ERA of 2.95 and 1st in WHIP at 1.08. Jameson Taillon will get the nod for the pinstripes on Wednesday night, the righty is 5-1 with a 2.49 ERA and 39 strikeouts.<\/p>\n

Cortes was absolutely filthy in his last start as he hurled eight shutout innings, while allowing only two hits and n walks with five strikeouts.<\/p>\n

Angels Losing Streak Rises To Six<\/h3>\n

The Los Angeles Angels losing streak climbed to six games last night after getting belted 9-1 in New York against the Yankees.<\/p>\n

Noah Syndergaard’s return to the Big Apple was spoiled as he couldn’t make it out of the 3rd inning. Thor gave up four runs in the first inning and ended with a line of 2.1 innings, five earned runs and seven hits. The bats never got rolling and Luis Rengifo provided the only run with a solo blast.<\/p>\n

The Angels offense underperformed compared to what they are used to as they rank 4th in runs scored on the season. They also rank 8th in batting average at .251, 6th in on-base percentage at .322 and 2nd in slugging percentage at .426.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday night they hope southpaw Reid Detmers can right the ship after getting smacked for five runs on five hits in six innings against the Texas Rangers. On the season, Detmers is 2-2 with a 4.65 ERA and 0.95 WHIP. If he struggled against Texas, Detmers will have his hands full with the Yankees in the Bronx.<\/p>\n

New York Yankees vs Los Angeles Angels Prediction<\/h2>\n

The money line is set at -150 for the New York Yankees and +140 for the Los Angeles Angels with a total of 8.5. The Yankees continue to playing high level baseball and are top three in team ERA.<\/p>\n

Taillon has been nearly flawless, having only allowed six runs across his last four starts. Detmers is going to have a tough time shutting down this Yankees lineup as he has allowed eight runs in his last 9.2 innings pitched.<\/p>\n

The Yankees are in far better form and we aren’t backing the Angels against them on a six game losing streak. We also not going to play at -150 money line here, so let’s take the Yanks on the +135 run line.<\/p>\n
