Alexander Volkov vs Jairzinho Rozenstruik Analysis<\/h2>\n

Top 10 Heavyweight mainstays meet in the octagon Saturday night when Alexander Volkov takes on Jairzinho Rozenstruik at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.<\/p>\n

This will mark Volkovs 7th UFC main event of his career, having won 3 of his first six main events. Rozenstruik makes his return to the octagon, having not competed in the past eight months after suffering a decision loss at the hands of Curtis Blaydes.<\/p>\n

Both men will be searching for a victory that keeps them in the title picture, while the loser might have to deal with the reality of never challenging for UFC gold. This marks the 5th time in Rozenstruiks UFC career he’ll be the underdog, and he’s 1-3 in that spot thus far.<\/p>\n

What’s at Stake<\/h3>\n

This is a must-win fight for the title hopes of both men. At their respective ages of 33 and 34, the time is now to make a run at the UFC heavyweight championship.<\/p>\n

Alexander Volkov is making a speedy turnaround after being wholly dismantled by phenom Tom Aspinall on March 23rd. This is an excellent opportunity for Volkov to erase the public’s memory if he can pick up a much-needed victory over Rozenstruik.<\/p>\n

Jairzinho Rozenstruik signed with the promotion in 2018 as an unknown commodity with an undefeated record and a substantial kickboxing background.<\/p>\n

He proved himself fast with four straight KO victories but has won just 2 of his past five since moving up the ranks and has had some trouble translating his style against the best of the best. He’ll need his best if he hopes of upsetting Volkov.<\/p>\n

‘Big Boi’<\/h3>\n

Jairzinho Rozenstruik has proven himself a capable top 10 heavyweight who can turn anybody’s lights out if he lands his big shots.<\/p>\n

The biggest issue for Rozenstruik over his past five fights when facing top-level competition has been his output and aggression on the feet.<\/p>\n

In his past two losses at the hands of elite heavyweights Curtis Blaydes and Cyril Gane, he landed just 60 significant strikes throughout eight rounds. He’ll need to be explosive and active if he hopes to beat Volkov.<\/p>\n

‘Drago’<\/h3>\n

Alexander Volkov has been a workhorse for the UFC since signing with the promotion in 2016. He makes his 13th walk to the octagon.<\/p>\n

He’s posted an 8-4 record inside the octagon but has been unable to get over the hump and challenge for UFC gold; a win here puts Volkov right back in the top 5 mix. Volkov has been knocked out in the past and will need to be wary of Rozenstruik.<\/p>\n

Volkov will look to keep Rozenstruik on the outside while using his activity on the feet and in the clinch to outpoint Jairzinho.<\/p>\n

In this one, I expect a feeling-out process that turns into a chess match, and I see this fight going over the total.<\/p>\n
