Yankees vs Orioles Analysis<\/h2>\n

The Baltimore Orioles open a three game series against their division rivals the New York Yankees from Camden Yards on Monday evening.<\/p>\n

The Yankees dropped both games of a doubleheader yesterday and ended losing two of three of what was supposed to be a four game series against the Chicago White Sox.<\/p>\n

The Orioles won two of three games at home against the Tampa Bay Rays, with both wins coming in extra innings. New York has prevailed in 7 of the 10 head-to-head meetings with Baltimore.<\/p>\n

Yankee ace Gerrit Cole gets the nod for New York, while right handed journeyman Jordan Lyles toes the rubber for Baltimore. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 PM EST\/4:10 PST.<\/p>\n

Yanks Swept in Double Dip<\/h3>\n

The New York Yankees are on a rare 1-3 skid after dropping both legs of a doubleheader against the Chicago White Sox yesterday.<\/p>\n

Their usually potent offensive attack scored only one run in the twin billing. The Yankee hitters were baffled by Michael Kopech in the nightcap, getting just three hits and going 0 for 5 with runners in scoring position.<\/p>\n

Starter Luis Severino pitched well with seven scoreless innings but ultimately got a no-decision. Johnathan Loaisiga was charged with the loss after allowing four runs on four hits while only recording two outs.<\/p>\n

Still the Yankees rank top five just about across the board, scoring the 3rd most runs per game with 4.97 a game and third best team ERA at 2.91. The Yanks turn to their ace Gerrit Cole, he beat this same Orioles team last week with seven innings of two run baseball.<\/p>\n

The 31 year-old Cole has been terrific this season, with a 4-0 record and 2.89 ERA across 43.2 innings of work.<\/p>\n

Orioles Out For Revenge<\/h3>\n

The Baltimore Orioles improved to 17-25 after a 7-6 extra innings victory at home against the Tampa Bay Rays. They overcame their starting pitcher Spenser Watkins not recording a single out while allowing three runs in what became a bullpen game.<\/p>\n

The pen did their job and only allowing another three runs over the course of a full nine innings. Youngster Ryan Mountcastle went 2 for 4 with a solo homerun in the 5th inning. The O’s will be looking for payback after losing 7 of the 10 head-to-head games against the Yankees.<\/p>\n

The Baltimore offense is improving but still ranks 4th worst in runs scored. Their pitching is just about average with a 3.88 team ERA. The veteran Jordan Lyles gets the nod for Baltimore, he 2-4 with an ERA of 4.11.<\/p>\n

He has his work cut out for him as three of the Yankees best hitters have feasted on him over the course of his career.<\/p>\n

Yankees vs Orioles Prediction<\/h2>\n

The New York Yankees come into this game as one the most heavily favored teams we have seen this season with a -320 money line. Meanwhile the Baltimore Orioles sit at +260 with a total of 7.5.<\/p>\n

The Yankees obviously have a huge advantage in this game but there is obviously no value in a -320 money line. Even the run line is juiced through the roof at -150. I lean over as I think the Orioles will put up at least a few runs against Cole.<\/p>\n

While the Yankee bats were cold yesterday, that’s not going to continue against a pitcher they are locked in against. They should be able to get on Lyles early and often. I’m rolling with a New York team total over 4.5 runs in this one.<\/p>\n
