The Warriors displayed a complete team effort as seven different players scored double digit points. Tip off is set for 9:00 PM EST\/6:00 PST.<\/p>\n Can Mavericks Bounce Back?<\/h3>\nThe Dallas Mavericks struggled in just about every facet of the game in the opener. They aren’t going to win this series shooting a horrendous 36% from the field and a pathetic 11 for 48 for 23% from three-point land.<\/p>\n The Mavericks did fall behind the Phoenix Suns 2-0 then evened the series at home and eventually won Game 7. However the Warriors have a championship pedigree and seem to have the Mavericks number.<\/p>\n Luka Doncic looked frustrated as the Warriors blitzed him at every turn and forced him to commit 7 turnovers. Luka’s shots weren’t falling either, he hit only 6 of 18 shots from the field including going only 3 for 10 from beyond the arc for 20 points.<\/p>\n Doncic just didn’t look right physically, he was seen clutching his shoulder all throughout the game and wasn’t driving into the paint or fighting for rebounds. Bottom line Dallas is going to need more production from their supporting cast.<\/p>\n They need to knock down shots to pull defenders off Doncic if they want to have a chance to win this series.<\/p>\n The Mavericks have one of the leagues elite defenses, holding teams to 105 points a game on less than 46% shooting from the field. They have some work to do defensively as they allowed the Warriors to score 112 points on 56% from the field.<\/p>\n Warriors Looked Golden in Game 1<\/h3>\nWe knew Andrew Wiggins was an elite defender but he was on another level, shutting down Luka Doncic on Tuesday night. He held the young guard to only 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Wiggins obviously had help with double downs but it was still an amazing display.<\/p>\n It will be interesting to see if they can replicate that effort in Game 2. The Warriors offense got contributions from everyone and shot an incredibly efficient 56% from the field. Steph Curry led the team with 21 points while Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins scored 19 each.<\/p>\n The Warriors also dominated the glass by a decisive 44-26 margin, making it smooth sailing for the Warriors. If the Mavs see Curry shimmying down the court again then they are pretty much toast.<\/p>\n Warriors vs Mavericks Prediction<\/h2>\nThe Golden State Warriors are 6 point favorites with a total of 214. An obvious first thought could be the zig-zag theory that has held true more often than not in this post-season.<\/p>\n I do expect some sort of Mavericks bounce back but it seems like they aren’t equipped with enough weapons to score consistently on defense like Golden State. Where I do see them improving is defensively.<\/p>\n Both these teams are top three defenses that hold opponents to less than 106 points per game. They both play amazing perimeter defense and hold teams under 35% from long distance which held true in Game 1. Look for the Mavs to ratchet up the defense and for the Warriors to continue to their dominance.<\/p>\n The under is 4-1 in the Mavs last five games and 3-1 in the Warriors last four. While it was a blowout, only 199 points were scored in Game 1, giving us plenty of room for another under with a total of 214.<\/p>\n Prediction: Under 214<\/strong><\/p>\n |
