Dodgers vs Diamondbacks Analysis<\/h2>\n

The Arizona Diamondbacks take on the Los Angeles Dodgers in the first of a three game series. Madison Bumgarner gets the start against Tony Gonsolin.<\/p>\n

The D-Backs dropped two of three to the Cubs at home last weekend, while the Dodgers lost three of four to the red-hot Phillies.<\/p>\n

Diamondbacks Preview<\/h3>\n

After a terrible season last year, the Snakes have bounced back well to start this season with an 18-17 record. Although they have the lowest OPS in baseball, the secret to their success has been the pitching, with a 10th best staff ERA at 3.53.<\/p>\n

Madison Bumgarner has regained the form of a few years ago with a 1.78 ERA and 1.12 WHIP in seven starts. He has a lower strikeout rate than earlier in his career, but he’s still finding ways to get hitters out.<\/p>\n

The Achilles Heel of this team has been the bullpen, which has the 3rd worst ERA in MLB, only ahead of the Reds and the Rockies. But manager Torey Lovullo has done a great job to keep his team competitive and playing good baseball the first month of the season.<\/p>\n

Dodgers Preview<\/h3>\n

The Dodgers are probably glad to play any team other than the Phillies, after they scored a combined 32 runs in their four game set. Even after this bad pitching weekend, their staff is still tied for the lowest ERA in baseball with the Yankees.<\/p>\n

Tony Gonsolin gets the start and he’s pitched very well this year with a 1.33 ERA and 1.07 WHiP. In 27 innings.<\/p>\n

He’s had a problem with control at times issuing 13 walks, but he’s found his way out of most jams. He’s not a big “innings eater” averaging 4.5 innings per start. But Goose has been an effective starter for the Dodgers in 2022.<\/p>\n

Dodgers vs Diamondbacks Prediction<\/h2>\n

It looks like the Dodgers turned the corner with their comeback 5-4 win on Sunday. While I think Arizona and MadBum could keep the game close early, the Dodgers have a much better bullpen and lineup to pull away in the later innings. That’s why I like the Dodgers on the run line.<\/p>\n
