Blue Jays vs Mariners Analysis<\/h2>\n

The Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays begin a three game series at Rogers Centre on Monday night. The Blue Jays ended up dropping two of three games against the Tampa Bay Rays this weekend after losing 3-0 on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The Mariners were more successful, completing a 2-1 series win over the New York Mets with an 8-7 victory on Sunday afternoon. Starter Yusei Kikuchi will get his first shot pitching against his former team, while Chris Flexen gets the nod for Seattle. First pitch is scheduled for 7:07 PM EST.<\/p>\n

Flexen on Blue Jays<\/h3>\n

The Seattle Mariners came into their weekend series losers of 13 of their last 16 games. They desperately needed the two wins they achieved against the New York Mets, including edging them out 8-7 on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Julio Rodriguez was one of many who had a big day at the plate, going 4 for 4 with a homerun and two RBI. It wasn’t a very sharp outing for Robbie Ray, pitching six innings and allowing five earned runs but he did pick up his fourth victory of the season.<\/p>\n

The Mariners have a middle of the pack offense that ranks 19th in runs scored, 15th in batting average and 14th in OPS. Ty France has been excellent, leading to a. 331 batting average and 25 RBI. Chris Flexen brings a 1-5 record and 4.24 ERA to the mound on Monday night.<\/p>\n

He was crushed for six runs on nine hits in only five innings against the Philadelphia Phillies in his last start. As other Mariner starters fall short of expectations, it would be huge if Flexen could get on track.<\/p>\n

Kikuchi Faces Familiar Faces<\/h3>\n

The Toronto Blue return home after a horrendous 2-7 road trip where they lost all three series to Cleveland, New York and Tampa Bay.<\/p>\n

Most recently, they were shutout 3-0 in Tampa Bay. Starter Alek Manoah pitched well, allowing three runs(one earned) in six innings while taking his first loss of the season. Yusei Kikuchi will bring his 4.15 ERA and 1-1 record to the mound up against his former team.<\/p>\n

Kikuchi pitched the first three seasons of his career in Seattle before becoming a free agent and signing with Toronto during the off-season. This may be Kikuchi’s easiest start on paper after facing either Houston, New York or Boston in his first five starts a Blue Jay.<\/p>\n

The Jays offense is also more opposing on paper as they now rank 22nd in runs scored with a team batting average of only .233 and an OPS of only .675.<\/p>\n

Blue Jays vs Mariners Prediction<\/h2>\n

The money line is set at -155 for the Toronto Blue Jays and +135 for the Seattle Mariners with a total of 8.5. Neither Chris Flexen or Yusei Kikuchi has inspired much confidence so far this season.<\/p>\n

Flexen was shelled in his last start and doesn’t get strikeouts, which could spell trouble against the Jays potent lineup. Kikuchi seems to constantly get into jams with command issues, leading to a 1.41 WHIP. Both teams have imposing hitters that could put up a crooked number at any time.<\/p>\n

The over is also 6-0-1 in the Jays last seven games against a right-handed pitcher. I don’t have a good feeling on either side and would rather back these hitters as opposed to the pitching.<\/p>\n
