White Sox vs Yankees Analysis<\/h2>\n

The weekend starts early for the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox as they begin a four game series at Guaranteed Rate Field on Thursday night.<\/p>\n

The Yankees are on a three game win streak after snatching both wins in a two game mini series at home against the Toronto Blue Jays. The White Sox had their game canceled yesterday due to Covid concerns on the Cleveland Guardians side, however they dont seem to be any issues.<\/p>\n

Chicago is on a hot streak of their own, having won 6 of their last 7 games. The young right-hander Luis Gil gets the nod for the Yankees, while the White Sox turn to righty Dylan Cease. The Yankees prevailed 5-1 in the head-to-head series last season. First pitch is scheduled for 8:10 PM EST.<\/p>\n

Yanks Storm Into Chicago<\/h3>\n

The New York Yankees are hands down the hottest team in the MLB, winning 15 of their last 17 games. They finished off a two game sweep over their division rival the Toronto Blue Jays with a 5-3 win on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Second baseman Gleyber Torres drove in all five runs, going 2 for 4 with a three run blast. Starter Jameson Taillon kept his team in the game, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits in 5.1 innings pitched.<\/p>\n

The Yanks have one of the most potent offenses in the league as they rank 4th with a .724 OPS and 9th with 4.49 runs scored per game. New York will turn to Luis Gil to open the series, he went 1-1 with a 3.07 ERA in six starts last season.<\/p>\n

However, this will be his first start of 2022. The Yankees can’t expect to get much more than four innings from Gil, but they have the luxury of leaning the top bullpen in the league with a 2.38 ERA.<\/p>\n

White Sox in Great Form<\/h3>\n

The Chicago White Sox have worked their way to a game above .500 at 15-14 after being only 9-13 just a week ago. Their game with the Cleveland Guardians was postponed yesterday after they split the first two games.<\/p>\n

Lucas Giolito allowed one run in seven innings to lead his team to a 4-1 victory over the Guardians on Tuesday. The White Sox pitching has been great, they rank 7th with a 3.21 starter ERA.<\/p>\n

They hope to keep that pitching trend as Dylan Cease takes the mound on Thursday night. Cease is 3-1 with a 2.38 ERA in six starts. He’s been lights out in his last two starts, allowing a total of one run across 12 innings of work.<\/p>\n

When Cease ultimately exits the game, the Pale Hose will turn to a bullpen that ranks 12th with a 3.45 ERA. They will most likely need another stellar outing from Cease in the pen as their offense ranks 26th in runs scored with only 3.53 per game.<\/p>\n

White Sox vs Yankees Prediction<\/h2>\n

The money line is set at -145 for the Chicago White Sox and +125 for the New York Yankees with a total set at 8. The Yankees have a far superior offensive attack as well as a more dynamic bullpen.<\/p>\n

Oddsmakers are making Chicago the favorite based on how well Cease has pitched and the fact that Gil is making his first start of the season. However Cease was shelled by the Yankees in two starts last season.<\/p>\n

He gave up 8 earned runs in 9.1 innings of work for a 7.71 ERA. The White Sox offense is nowhere near as potent as they were last season, maybe that will come as Yoan Moncada and others work their way into form.<\/p>\n

They rank 26th in wRC+ against right-handed pitching compared to the Yankees who rank 6th. I’m making a strong play on the Yankees money line at +125, considering they have major advantages almost across the board.<\/p>\n
