Texas won the first game of this series 6-4 as the Royals look to rebound tonight as their starting pitcher hasn’t been announced at the time of this writing. Rangers vs Royals Analysis<\/h2>\n

The Kansas City Royals visit Globe Life Field to take on the Texas Rangers in the second of a three game series. Tuesday night the Rangers got five earned runs off starter Brad Keller and hung on for a 6-4 win.<\/p>\n

Tonight it looks like a bullpen game for both teams, as right-handed reliever Matt Bush takes the mound for Texas going against a starter TBD for the Royals.<\/p>\n

Royals Preview<\/h3>\n

Kansas City is going through a rough stretch, going just 2-8 in their last 10 games. While they have some good veteran players such as Whit Merrifield, Salvador Perez and Andrew Benintendi – and talented younger players in Bobby Witt Jr. and MJ Melendez – they aren’t playing well enough to compete right now.<\/p>\n

Both the hitting and pitching have been bad to start 2022. The offense is 29th in OPS at .594 and team ERA is 26th at 4.61. With these numbers, there’s really not much else to say. They need more guys to step up their performance and have fewer “black holes” (non-productive hitters) in their lineup.<\/p>\n

Rangers Preview<\/h3>\n

The Rangers played well in their three games in New York against the Yankees last weekend. Although they lost two of three, they held the Bronx Bombers to just five total runs for the series. Before that, they took two from the Phillies on the road, and two of three from the Braves at home.<\/p>\n

A big reason for their recent success is improved pitching, which was a problem for Texas early in the season when they were near the bottom of MLB. Now they have a respectable 20th best staff ERA of 3;86 and WHIP of 1.26.<\/p>\n

And while they’ve gotten good production at the plate from Jonah Heim, Corey Seager and Nick Solak, the rest of the lineup needs to pick up the pace. It seems like they platoon their lineup quite a bit, depending if they’re facing a lefty or a right-handed pitcher and haven’t gotten enough consistent at-bats.<\/p>\n

This is important this season because of the shorter spring training. The Rangers offense should improve over the next few weeks into June as their lineup gets more reps. If they don’t, it could be a long season in Arlington.<\/p>\n

Rangers vs Royals Prediction<\/h2>\n

It’s a little difficult to handicap when you have two bullpens going against each other, but I think Texas is playing much better baseball as of late.<\/p>\n

The Rangers have won six of their last 10, while the Royals have only won two of their last ten. Neither team has been heavy hitters at the plate, but the Rangers have figured out ways to manufacture runs, scoring 115 runs on the year.<\/p>\n

The Royals are dead last in run production with only 83 – that’s about a full run difference per game. Texas is playing at home with better pitching and more momentum, that’s why I like the Rangers on the moneyline.<\/p>\n
