Pacos de Ferreira vs Benfica Analysis<\/h2>\n

It\u2019s the final game of the season for both Benfica and Pacos de Ferreira on Friday night over in the Portuguese Primeira Liga as both sides look to see out what has been pretty disappointing seasons domestically.<\/p>\n

While Benfica reached an impressive Champions League quarterfinal against Liverpool just last month (gaining a terrific 3-3 draw against the Reds at Anfield as well), they weren\u2019t able to challenge for the Portuguese Primeira title trailing 17 points off the pace against this year\u2019s champions FC Porto.<\/p>\n

This marks the third-straight season Benfica has been unable to challenge for the top spot in Portugal and with the looming departure of star striker Darwin Nunez to the Premier League this summer, that streak could well drag on for a few more seasons.<\/p>\n

Pacos de Ferreira similarly suffered a disappointing 2021\/22 campaign after the highs of last season where they finished in a Europa League playoff spot.<\/p>\n

This season, the \u2018Castores\u2019 found themselves well off the pace down in 10th position after failing to win a single league game between September to December to start off the year.<\/p>\n

That puts Benfica in something of a no man\u2019s land ahead of this matchup and with injuries to Rafa Silva in midfield among a few others, interim coach Nelson Verissimo may opt to give some of his backup players a run out in this one.<\/p>\n

Despite ranking top-half in the league this season in terms of overall goals allowed to opponents, Pacos de Ferreira have been blessed with some above average goalkeeping from the likes of Andre Ferreira this season, as the team has allowed the fourth-most shots in the league this year, with only Estoril, Portimonense and Belenenses allowing opponents more offensive opportunities.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s something you definitely don\u2019t want to get comfortable doing against a team in Benfica who ranks No. 1 in road goals scored this season as they\u2019ve averaged a pretty astronomical 2.5 goals per game away from home this year.<\/p>\n
