Guardians vs Blue Jays Analysis<\/h2>\n

The Toronto Blue Jays kick off a four game weekend series against the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field. The Guardians split a double-header as well as what became a two game series with the San Diego Padres due to weather issues.<\/p>\n

The Blue Jays edged out the red hot New York Yankees 2-1 to salvage the final game of the series. Aaron Civale will start for Cleveland, while Jose Berrios gets the nod for Toronto.<\/p>\n

These teams will meet again for a three game series in August at the Rogers Centre. First pitch is scheduled for 6:10 PM EST.<\/p>\n

Blue Jays Avoid Sweep<\/h3>\n

The Toronto Blue Jays finally lost their first series of the season to the New York Yankees, however they were able to salvage the final game with a 2-1 victory last night. The Yankees are the only team that has challenged the Jays as they also split a 4 game set earlier in the season.<\/p>\n

Last night, Yusei Kikuchi finally has a quality, throwing six innings while allowing only one run on three hits while striking out seven. Kikuchi picked up the victory, while Jordan Romano earned his league leading 12th save of the season. Matt Chapman went 1 for 2 with a solo blast.<\/p>\n

Toronto currently sits at 2nd place in the American League East with a 16-10 record. The Jays offense continues to stack up numbers as they rank 1st in homeruns and 7th in OPS.<\/p>\n

Jose Berrios looks to get the Blue Jays out on the right foot. Berrios has continued to improve from start to start and has a 2-0 record and 4.13 ERA on the season.<\/p>\n

Guardians Of The Mendoza Line<\/h3>\n

The Cleveland Guardians are coming off a typical double-header split with the San Diego Padres. They lost Game One 5-4 as starter Dan Plesac took the loss allowing four earned runs in only five innings of work. The Guardians won the second game 6-5 in the 10th inning.<\/p>\n

Cal Quantrill kept his team in the game with six innings of three run ball. Reliever Nick Sandlin picked up the victory and second baseman Andres Gimenez went 2 for 4 with an RBI.<\/p>\n

Cleveland just can’t seem to get past .500 with an 11-13 record good for a share of 2nd place in the American League Central. The Guardians have been solid offensively, they are tied with the Jays for 7th place in OPS.<\/p>\n

Aaron Civale gets his turn in the rotation and the Guardians can’t be confident in him shutting down the Jays. Civale hasn’t pitched more than four innings in any of his four starts and is 0-2 with a ridiculous 10.67 ERA.<\/p>\n

Guardians vs Blue Jays Prediction<\/h2>\n

The money line for tonight’s contest is set at -150 for the visiting Toronto Blue Jays and +130 for the Guardians of Cleveland with a total set at 8.<\/p>\n

As we mentioned before, both offenses are have the ability to score runs in bunches. Berrios has been and mixed bag and Civale has been lit up on a regular basis.<\/p>\n

The Jays bullpen has been horrendous as they rank 26th in ERA while the Cleveland pen is middle of the pack at 14th. The Guardians pen must be taxed after yesterday’s double-header. There should be plenty of runs to go around tonight, over 8 is the play.<\/p>\n
