Dodgers vs Giants Analysis<\/h2>\n

The San Francisco Giants visit Chavez Ravine to play the Los Angeles Dodgers in the first of a two-game series. Flame-throwing lefty Carlos Rodon gets the start against fellow southpaw Julio Urias in one of the best pitching matchups of the season.<\/p>\n

Giants Preview<\/h3>\n

Last weekend, the Giants series against the Nationals didn’t go as planned. They lost two of three games, and gave up a lot more runs than I thought they would. And it could be from looking ahead to this mid-week series against LA.<\/p>\n

San Francisco has relied mainly on good pitching to win games this year. The staff ERA is 4th best in the majors at 3.06, while team OPS is 15th best at .694 and batting average of .237.<\/p>\n

Former White Sox pitcher Carlos Rodon gets the start, and has missed a lot of major league bats in his first four outings. In 23 innings of work, he’s 3-0 with a 1.17 ERA and 0.83 WHIP, and has given up only 11 hits, eight walks and no home runs.<\/p>\n

Dodgers Preview<\/h3>\n

The Dodgers’ hitting has cooled down a bit over the past week. They’re 10th in team OPS, tied with the Braves at .705 with a team batting average of .237.<\/p>\n

Although the season-long numbers don’t reflect it, Cody Bellinger has shown some flashes of the player he was from 2017 to 2019.<\/p>\n

The former league MVP won the NL Player of the Week award for the week ending April 24. He was 7-for-23 with three home runs and a 1.174 OPS.<\/p>\n

LA was able to win a World Series with a struggling Bellinger in 2020. If he can make a solid contribution to the Dodgers lineup this season – and most of their key players can stay healthy and perform like they’re capable of – they should be able to make a deep playoff run in October.<\/p>\n

After a shaky first outing at Coors Field, Julio Urias has regained the form that won him the 2021 Warren Spahn award as the best left-handed pitcher in baseball.<\/p>\n

In his last three starts, he’s pitched 16.0 innings, given up just four hits, five walks and struck out 15 – which adds up to a 2.50 ERA with a 1.00 WHIP.<\/p>\n

Dodgers vs Giants Prediction<\/h2>\n

We have two of the best starting pitchers in baseball, two of the top four bullpens in ERA in the majors, and a couple of lineups that have recently struggled at the plate.<\/p>\n

Right now, this is one of the best true rivalries in Major League Baseball and two teams who really don’t like each other. I think it should be a great pitching matchup and a low-scoring game. That’s why I’ll take the full game under 7 runs.<\/p>\n
