Marseille vs Lyon Analysis<\/h2>\n

Marseille welcomes Lyon to the Stade Velodrome on Sunday after getting involved in an absolute barnburner on Thursday night against Dutch side Feyenoord in their Europa Conference League semifinal.<\/p>\n

Four goals over the opening 40 minutes of action saw Marseille come back from two goals down after a disastrous start, with Feyenoord eventually edging out the contest from a goal just after the break from Cyriel Dessers.<\/p>\n

Lyon, meanwhile, have it all to do here sitting six points outside of even a Europa League spot this season as their chances of playing in Europe for next season continue to dwindle.<\/p>\n

Lyon Heating Up Offensively<\/h3>\n

While their defense hasn\u2019t always been the best in French Ligue 1 with \u2018Les Gones\u2019 giving up an average of 1.38 goals per game to opponents on the road this year, their offense has been spectacular, especially since the calendar turned to 2022.<\/p>\n

Lyon ranks No. 1 in the league on expected goals since January 1st and only seem to be getting better as the season winds down, averaging 4.00 goals per game over their last three starts.<\/p>\n

Marseille\u2019s Frustrating Home Form<\/h3>\n

While \u2018Les Phoceens\u2019 boast the league\u2019s best away form this year with 36 points from just 17 games, their home form has been far less impressive this year with just eight wins from 17 games ranking them mid-table in the league.<\/p>\n

Three of those eight wins for Marseille however have come over their last three starts so they\u2019ll be eager to continue that run here and secure another three points to guarantee them an automatic Champions League spot ahead of next season.<\/p>\n

We like goals in this one on Sunday night over in France as Lyon continues to run red-hot in terms of scoring and we may well see some tired legs on display from Marseille in this one after Thursday night\u2019s heroics.<\/p>\n

Marseille ranks bottom half in the league on overall opponent scoring at home since January 1st, giving up 1.29 goals per game to opponents on average inside the Velodrome and we see that continuing here with a Lyon team coming to town who are in absolutely ruthless form in front of goals right now.<\/p>\n
