Wolfsburg vs Mainz Analysis<\/h2>\n

Mainz takes on Wolfsburg on Friday night over in the German Bundesliga and it\u2019ll no doubt be a nervy time for the hosts inside the Volkswagen Arena as they\u2019ve lost four of their last five games overall with only six points separating themselves and the drop zone.<\/p>\n

Mainz meanwhile have dropped off the pace themselves, and after looking like they could possibly challenge for a European spot for next season, a recent run of four-straight games without a win has put paid to that as they sit in relative mid-table security.<\/p>\n

Mainz Road Record Needs Improvement<\/h3>\n

Mainz has been a great bet all season inside the Mewa Arena where they rank fourth in the league overall picking up an average of 2.07 points per game.<\/p>\n

However, on the road, their form has dropped off dramatically, winning just twice away from home all season with only bottom of the table Gruether Fuerth picking up less wins and less points than Mainz have on the road this year.<\/p>\n

Wolfsburg Looks To Rebound Quickly<\/h3>\n

After scrapping a home win against Arminia Bielefeld two weeks ago to give themselves a much needed three point boost in the battle against relegation, Wolfsburg came crashing back to Earth hard last weekend as they got absolutely shredded by a clinical Borussia Dortmund side.<\/p>\n

Dortmund put five goals past Wolfsburg in just 14 minutes in what was Wolfsburg\u2019s fourth-worst loss since the club started over 76 years ago.<\/p>\n

After the game, the board gave a weak vote of confidence to current boss Florian Kohfeldt, but both he and the players will be looking for a quick rebound here on Friday in front of what is fast turning into a hostile home support.<\/p>\n

Wolfsburg vs Mainz Prediction<\/h2>\n

This looks like an extremely close game to call on Friday and it\u2019s clear that Wolfsburg are only slightly favored here because of their greater need for a result in this game.<\/p>\n

However, with just six wins at home all season – with two of their last three coming against the bottom two clubs in the league in Arminia Bielefeld and Greuther Fuerth respectively – they hardly inspire any confidence to go on and win this game.<\/p>\n

The outright draw offers the most value in this one as both teams may well cancel each other out to a degree and at the current line of Mainz +0.25, that\u2019s also an avenue to bet in this game.<\/p>\n
