Because of that, only the best in the world truly contend here and longshot winners are generally few and far between.

In fact, the best place to start figuring out your winner this week is looking at the top-30 in the Official World Golf Rankings. Nobody outside of the top-30 has won since Angel Cabrera in 2009.

Scottie Scheffler +1700 (FD) | Top-10 +140 (FD or DK)
It would seem odd to leave the hottest player on the planet off the list this week. At this point, I no longer understand Rahm being listed as the favorite. He’s just not winning. And to that point, when was the last time he or Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Dustin Johnson or Rory McIlroy won? They are all listed at the same or shorter odds this week and I just think it’s an insult to Scottie. I mean he is the No. 1 player in the World Golf Rankings. Shouldn’t he have the shortest odds?

Augusta is one of those courses that requires a couple of trips around to start to figure it out. Scheffler has two starts here and finished T18 and T19. I can only expect that to improve this year.

Daniel Berger +8500 (FD) | Top-10 +280
This is just a ridiculous number as DraftKings and many other books have Berger in the 40-1 range. Kudos to FanDuel this week for posting some great odds on a lot of players. When shopping your outrights, make sure to be using multiple books to get the best possible number.

Berger ranks No. 21 in the World Golf Rankings, so we are safe with the top-30 qualification I mentioned earlier. He has four Masters appearances under his belt with his best finish being a T-10 in 2016.

Berger ranks fifth in this field in Strokes Gained Tee-to-Green over the last six months at +1.65 per round and has been playing some of the best golf of his career over the last year. He is coming off a disappointing fourth place finish at the Honda after blowing a five-shot lead heading into Sunday. He then rebounded with a strong showing at the very difficult Players, finishing T13.

Berger is one of a few players I haven’t heard a lot of people talking about heading into this week, which makes me like him even more.

Shane Lowry Top-20 (+160) DK
The only reason Lowry isn’t an outright play this week is he sits at No. 35 in the World Golf Rankings, but he has been competing week-in and week-out. He didn’t make it out of group play at the WGC Match Play, but in his last seven stroke play starts worldwide, he has six finishes of T14 or better with his worst finish a T24. Also, the last two years at Augusta he has finishes of T21 and T25.

He ranks just outside that all-important top-10 in Total Strokes Gained over the last six months at No. 11, but is No. 5 over the last three months at +2.01 per round.

Players to Avoid

From Andy Lang: Xander Schauffele – He only has one top-10 finish this season, and he’s coming off a bad performance at the WGC Match Play where he missed big shots and putts when he needed them.

In 2022, he is 41st in strokes gained approach, and he’s 29th in par-5 scoring. He was also 16th in putting last season, and is currently 64th in putting this year. That’s not going to win the Masters, and not going to finish in the top-10 in the Masters.

For the 2021 season, Schauffele was tied for third in par-5 scoring, and was 14th in Strokes Gained on Approach. I think he’s regressed this year, there are too many guys playing better than him to bet on him or put him in daily fantasy.

Patrick Cantlay – He finished 17th in The Masters that was in the fall of 2020, but missed the cut in the spring of 2021 at The Masters. That means he’s missed the cut two out of the last three Masters that took place in the spring.

He wasn’t great at the WGC Match Play, and before that his crazy putting streak started to regress as he finished 33rd and missed the cut at the previous two tournaments. Before that, he had three top-four finishes in four tournaments so he’s getting worse, not better. I won’t be betting on him this week.

2022 Masters DFS Recommendations

Kevin Na ($6800) – He was awful at the Arnold Palmer, but came back and finished ninth at the WGC Match Play. He finished 12th, and 13th the last two Masters. He’s got seven made cuts out of the last eight Masters he’s played in. At $6800, if he gets us weekend points, he’s a bargain.

Si Woo Kim ($7100) – He withdrew from The Players with the bad weather, but besides that he made the cut in 14 out of 15 tournaments including a 13th-place finish last week which makes eight top-26 finishes in 11 tournaments. He’s a great sneaky option here as he finished 12th, 34th, 21st, 24th here the last three Masters.

Corey Conners ($7600) – He’s finished 35th, 3rd, 26th, and 11th last last four tournaments he’s played in and finished eighth and tenth the last two Masters.

Interested in placing a bet on the 2022 Masters Tournament?
