DWCS Week 9 Predictions<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Summer Onley (-250) vs Alivia Bierley (+170) <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bierley is a solid fighter, but she\u2019s going to be at a major speed disadvantage with both her hands\u00a0 and feet. She\u2019s durable, has good cardio, and has shown the ability to get late finishes, but Onley\u00a0brings a different level of speed and power. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her jab and overhand right come extremely fast,\u00a0 making them difficult for opponents to block. Bierley is tough enough to hang around, but her\u00a0 best chance may be hoping Onley slows down. Onley has already shown she can go the distance and win, so I\u2019m not overly concerned about that. Onley is the pick.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Salhahuddin Everett (-165) vs Ozzy Martin (+125) <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both guys are 4-0, neither has fought anyone with a pulse, and both have made a habit of getting\u00a0quick finishes. That makes it difficult to know how either one will respond when they finally face\u00a0 some adversity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m guessing we don\u2019t get many answers here because both guys should come\u00a0out firing and looking for an early finish. At plus money, I\u2019ll take my chances with Martin. His\u00a0 kicks are vicious, and I think he has enough offensive upside to make +125 worth the shot. Ozzy\u00a0Martin is the underdog pick.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alexander Chavez (-115) vs Roque Conceicao (-105) <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I just don\u2019t see it with Chavez. He\u2019s faced awful competition, and I haven\u2019t seen the speed or\u00a0skill that makes me think he\u2019s UFC-ready. His striking is basic, he doesn\u2019t set his offense up\u00a0 particularly well, and a lot of his success has come from simply being better than bad opponents.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conceicao lost to Imanol Rodriguez on Contender Series last season, but Rodriguez looks like an\u00a0insane talent. Conceicao still managed to knock Rodriguez down in that fight, then came back\u00a0with a first-round knockout in his next appearance. I like fighters returning to Contender Series\u00a0after losing to a legitimately talented opponent. Conceicao is the pick.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mateus Soares (-325) vs Ryuho Miyaguchi (+250) <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Soares is only 22 years old, and the future looks extremely bright. Despite his age, he already\u00a0 looks polished and experienced. His striking is fantastic\u2014accurate, powerful, and technically\u00a0sharp. Even when opponents get their guard up, his punches still do damage, and his leg kicks\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

are another major weapon. I can\u2019t buy into Miyaguchi here. He lost on Road to UFC, has awful\u00a0striking defense, and has built much of his record on a weak regional scene. He has a decent jab,\u00a0but this looks like a massive mismatch on the feet. Soares by knockout is the pick.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

DWCS Week 9 Main Event: Preston LaGrange vs Nell Ariano<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ariano has some solid finishes, although he was surprisingly patient and low volume in his last\u00a0 fight. He went the distance and got the win, which might not be the type of performance that\u00a0impresses Dana White, but we know Ariano can turn up the violence when he needs to.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

LeGrange has plenty of early finishes, which is important because his cardio isn\u2019t good. He should have an advantage on the ground, but Ariano has decent takedown defense and should be\u00a0able to make him work. I expect this to get beyond the first round, and that\u2019s when the cardio\u00a0difference should become obvious. Ariano is the pick, with a third-round finish over a tired\u00a0 LeGrange.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
