He’s fearless, constantly forces the action and throws his punches with 100% power. The problem is that there isn’t much defense behind that aggression, and he’s not looking to wrestle or turn this into a grappling match.

Brandon Holmes is much more patient and gives you more ways to win. He can strike, but he also has a legitimate ground game and does a good job of pouncing when he hurts an opponent. His win over a young Nick Galanti has aged nicely, and his only loss came against Cam Rowston.

Rodrigues’ aggression makes him dangerous early, but it also gives Holmes plenty of opportunities to capitalize on mistakes. Holmes by finish is the pick.

Adam Livingston (-155) vs. Hunter Smith (+135)

Adam Livingston is only 25 years old and already has experience against good competition in LFA. His Contender Series loss came against Tommy Gantt, a wrestler who was able to exploit an area where Livingston still needs work. Livingston has tried to wrestle in his own fights, but that’s not where he’s at his best.

Livingston’s strength is his striking. He’s a talented, intelligent striker with good fight IQ, although I do have some questions about what happens to him if this becomes a difficult three round fight and his cardio is tested.

Hunter Smith really impresses me on the feet. His strikes are extremely crisp and fast, and he does a nice job using his jab and kicks to set up his bigger shots.

He also showed excellent athleticism and ground-and-pound in his last fight. Smith can get a little overzealous and leave himself open to counters, but he’s also shown the durability to survive those mistakes.

This should be a competitive fight, but Smith at +135 is the underdog pick. His speed, athleticism and overall offensive upside make the plus money attractive.

Silvestre Sanchez (+215) vs. Liam McKracken (-260)

Silvestre Sanchez is at his best when he can get a fight to the ground. He’s extremely strong, has good control and can do damage with ground-and-pound once he’s in top position. The concern comes when he’s forced to stay on his feet. Sanchez carries a lot of muscle, tends to slow the pace and becomes flat-footed after the first few minutes.

Liam McKracken should have a significant speed advantage on the feet. His punches are snappier, his movement is quicker and he should have the volume advantage as the fight progresses.

The handicap is pretty straightforward. If Sanchez can consistently get the fight to the ground, he has a real chance to control McKracken. If they’re forced to strike for extended periods, McKracken’s speed and volume should take over.

McKracken is the lean, but I hate laying -260 because Sanchez has a clear path to victory with his strength and ground game.

Charlie Cleveland (-180) vs. Gabriel Lourenco (+157)

Gabriel Lourenco is a monster when he’s able to dictate the fight. He throws violent kicks, brings the same aggression to his ground game and has shown the ability to overwhelm opponents. The obvious question is the competition, because he really hasn’t been tested since the first fight of his professional career.

Charlie Cleveland is a powerful striker and represents a major step up, but he’s going to have to survive Lourenco’s early storm. In particular, Cleveland can’t afford to absorb too many of those heavy leg kicks and allow Lourenco to compromise his movement.

Cleveland will probably be a popular pick this week because he’s the more proven fighter, but I’m going the other direction. There’s an unknown element to Lourenco’s ceiling, and the violence he brings gives him a chance to make an immediate statement against better competition. Lourenco at +157 is the underdog pick.

DWCS Week 4 Main Event: Patrick Rivera (+316) vs Adam Darby (-400)

Adam Darby has clearly faced the better level of competition, and that experience should make a major difference in this matchup. Darby has good length, is pretty sound defensively and has shown both striking and submission ability.

His striking can be a little unorthodox and I’d like to see him become quicker with his combinations, but what he’s doing has worked against significantly better opponents than Rivera has faced.

Patrick Rivera is 34 years old and has spent most of his career fighting very low-level competition in Shogun Fights. That’s a gigantic red flag at this stage of his career. It took him three rounds to finish a 44-year-old opponent, and because the competition has been so poor, he hasn’t really been forced to evolve.

His striking remains basic, and all three of his career losses have come by submission. Darby has more ways to win and has been tested at a much higher level. Darby is the pick.

**************************************************

Looking for more free sports picks and sports betting tips?

Latest Betting Odds and Public Action: Vegas lines updated in real time, including who the public is betting on.

Last Minute Handicapping Advice: Check out our extensive library of handicapping tips and advice from professional Vegas handicappers (we also recommend taking the time to look over our sports betting tips video library)

Want an expert opinion? Check out the latest Free Sports Picks and Best Bets from our team of expert sports handicappers.

Make sure to bookmark all the above!

DWCS Week 4 Betting Preview and Odds!
