BKFC Boston<\/strong> Predictions<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Christine Ferea (-500) vs. Sofia Landi (+370) <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christine Ferea should win this however she wants. She’s 43 years old, but she’s still the best\u00a0fighter in the division and has won nine straight fights. She’s also coming off back-to-back\u00a0 stoppage victories. Ferea isn’t quite as fast as she once was, but the power is absolutely still\u00a0 there.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sofia Landi hasn’t even competed in boxing yet, and she’s only 5-5 in MMA. Nothing I’ve seen  from her striking suggests she’s anywhere near the level needed to threaten Ferea. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This looks like a massive mismatch. Ferea is the easy pick, and I expect her to win by  knockout. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joe Lauzon (-500) vs. Stash Kuykendall (+370) <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joe Lauzon hasn’t competed professionally since 2019, and that was in the UFC, so there will\u00a0obviously be some questions after such a long layoff. However, Lauzon is a legitimate\u00a0 professional fighter, and we’ve seen plenty of former UFC fighters transition successfully into\u00a0 bare knuckle.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More importantly, Stash Kuykendall is awful. He doesn’t look like he knows how to box, his\u00a0stance is bad, and he doesn’t even hold his hands properly. He’s been knocked out in both of his BKFC fights, and I don’t see anything changing here.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even after the long layoff, this is a perfect opponent for Lauzon. Lauzon by finish is the pick,\u00a0and I expect Kuykendall to get stopped for the third straight BKFC fight.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rico Disciullo (-240) vs. Tray Martin (+192) <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m taking the underdog in this one. Rico Disciullo has beaten some bad fighters and has shown\u00a0legitimate knockout power, but now he’s facing an opponent who has that dog in him.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tray Martin doesn’t stop coming forward. He crashes the pocket, makes fights uncomfortable  and frustrates opponents with constant pressure. He just pulled off the upset against Nathan  Rivera, and I actually view Disciullo as a step down in competition from that matchup. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Martin just proved he can win at a higher level, and now I’m getting him as a sizable underdog. I\u00a0don’t understand the line. Martin at +192 is the pick.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dallas Davison (+144) vs. Pat Casey (-178) <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I see these two as fairly equal fighters, which makes it difficult for me to understand Davison\u00a0being +144. Pat Casey can be hit and damaged, and I don’t love the way he puts together his\u00a0 offense. He tends to throw one shot and then back out rather than using combinations to keep\u00a0 opponents off balance.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dallas Davison has pretty good power, and I think he’s improving. He lost three straight BKFC\u00a0fights at one point, but he’s since won three of his last four overall, and his striking has become\u00a0 noticeably quicker.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a close matchup, but at these prices, Davison at +144 is the pick. The plus money is too\u00a0good to pass up in what I see as a near-even fight.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charles Rosa (-210) vs. Charon Spain (+170) <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charon Spain has an incredible 75 fights across boxing, bare knuckle and MMA. He’s 38 years\u00a0old and obviously has a lot of mileage, but he’s actually still somewhat competitive. His MMA\u00a0 results haven’t been particularly impressive, but in bare knuckle, he still has some pop in his\u00a0 punches and isn’t nearly as slow as you might expect.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charles Rosa had a long UFC run and has since moved into bare knuckle while also competing in Ice Wars. He seems to genuinely enjoy competing right now rather than looking like a veteran\u00a0 simply collecting paychecks.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spain’s experience makes him dangerous, but Rosa should have the advantages in both speed and\u00a0power. Rosa is the pick.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peter Barrett (-380) vs. Elijah Harris (+290) <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peter Barrett is significantly more crisp and powerful than Elijah Harris. Harris gets hit far too\u00a0easily, and when opponents land clean with power, he has a tendency to go down and give away\u00a0 rounds.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I really like Barrett’s stance and his ability to step into his offense. He uses a wide base while\u00a0keeping his head far enough back that opponents have trouble finding him cleanly. That’s going\u00a0to be a major problem for a defensively vulnerable fighter like Harris.\u00a0Barrett should beat Harris up and is the clear pick.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taylor Starling (-188) vs. Kat Paprocki (+152) <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kat Paprocki picked up a nice win in her last fight, but there was a lot of laughing and\u00a0 showboating, and I didn’t think it was particularly technical. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She doesn’t do a great job setting up\u00a0 her punches, doesn’t handle pressure especially well and uses a strange defensive guard where\u00a0 she holds her arms directly in front of her face. When she faced a decent boxer in Shelby Cannon, she was dominated and couldn’t get her offense going.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taylor Starling moves better and will bring significantly more aggression than Paprocki dealt\u00a0 with in her last fight. We also have a useful common opponent: Starling beat Shelby Cannon,\u00a0while Paprocki lost to her.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Styles make fights, so I’m not basing the pick entirely on that comparison, but it reinforces what I  see on film. Starling should outclass Paprocki while landing more frequently and with more  power. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guilherme Viana (-300) vs. Robinson Perez (+225) <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guilherme Viana is massive for this matchup. He’s about six inches taller and will have a\u00a0significant reach advantage. He has a good jab, but his biggest problem is leaving his chin\u00a0 exposed. That cost him badly in his last fight when he was knocked out early.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If Viana learned anything from that loss and cleans up his defense, he should dominate this\u00a0matchup. Robinson Perez wants to move forward and get inside, but he’s fairly slow and doesn’t\u00a0 have a good jab to help him close the distance.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perez was just knocked out in April by a taller opponent who gave him problems with the jab.\u00a0This looks like a similar matchup, and Viana is the pick.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

James Murrin (-174) vs. Chris Rooney (+142) <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chris Rooney hasn’t fought in years, has never boxed professionally and only has four MMA fights, where he went 1-3. Even that lone victory came because his opponent hit him with an\u00a0 illegal knee. Rooney is extremely stiff on the feet, his striking looks awful and his stance is a\u00a0disaster.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

James Murrin hasn’t competed in bare knuckle either, so there’s some uncertainty on his side, but\u00a0his striking looks significantly better than Rooney’s.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There isn’t enough here to make me love the favorite, but I can’t put money on Rooney. It’s  Murrin or nothing.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jake Pilla (-240) vs. Angelo Colon (+192) <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Angelo Colon might be the worst fighter on this card, and that’s saying something. He has no\u00a0business being a boxer. His punching technique is awful, he can’t take a clean shot and the\u00a0 moment he faces any real adversity, he looks ready to be done.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jake Pilla isn’t a great fighter himself, but he’s a pressure-heavy fighter who likes to pour it on when he’s facing overmatched competition. That’s exactly what he’s getting here.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pilla should immediately put Colon under pressure, land something clean early and make him\u00a0want out of the fight. Pilla by early finish is the pick.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

David Simpson (-170) vs. David Burke (+138) <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

David Burke is a car crash waiting to happen, but that’s part of what makes him dangerous. He swings hard, and when he connects, there’s legitimate power behind his punches. He lost a fight when the doctor stopped it because of a cut on his lip, but I thought it was a terrible stoppage.\u00a0 Burke was still game and absolutely capable of winning that fight.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

David Simpson has a ton of experience and is tough as nails, but he also absorbs a lot of damage. His cardio fades quickly, and once he gets tired, he becomes flat-footed and his striking volume falls off.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That’s dangerous against someone like Burke. Simpson may be the more experienced and\u00a0dependable fighter, but he’s going to give Burke opportunities to land big shots. At +138, Burke\u00a0 is the upset pick.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

BKFC <\/strong>Boston Main Event: Kai Stewart (-142) vs. Harry Gigliotti (+118)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Harry Gigliotti came over from the BKB and BYB promotions before making his BKFC debut against Timmy Mason, who is a terrible fighter. Gigliotti got the second-round knockout, but I\u00a0 don’t put much stock into that win. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In fact, he ate some clean shots and was dropped in the first\u00a0 round. He’s made a habit of beating bad fighters, and I don’t particularly like his crispness or his defense.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kai Stewart is a much more sophisticated fighter. He’s patient, has the cardio to maintain his\u00a0 pace and is comfortable winning decisions by gradually wearing opponents down. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also does\u00a0 good work in the clinch and consistently applies pressure. Stewart isn’t a huge knockout threat,\u00a0 but he doesn’t need to be here. Stewart should be too polished offensively, and he’s the pick at -142.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
