He’s fought the same opponent twice over his last four fights, and I couldn’t even take his most recent fight seriously. There was too much joking around, hugging and smiling between the fighters, and it was an awful fight to watch.

Piazzon also appeared on Contender Series in 2023, where his approach was built around wrestling and clinching. Once again, it wasn’t impressive. Guilherme Uriel lost to Wyatt Hokit on Contender Series, but there’s no shame in that. The wrestling wore Uriel down, but he has legitimate power on the feet and also has some submission ability.

Piazzon will probably try to turn this into an ugly wrestling and clinching fight, while Uriel should be looking to strike. Piazzon’s résumé is filled with questionable competition, and he’s even been knocked out by an opponent who was 15-39 at the time.

Uriel is the pick, but don’t be surprised if Piazzon makes this an ugly, boring fight where neither guy does enough to get anyone excited about offering a contract.

Sean Clancy vs. Gary Balletto

Gary Balletto has won three straight BKFC fights, but those victories have come against pretty bad competition. Even in those wins, I wasn’t particularly impressed.

He’s primarily a boxer, and he’s absorbed a concerning amount of damage along the way. Balletto also has MMA experience and a decent number of victories, but nothing remotely close to the level of competition Sean Clancy has been facing.

Clancy looks like the real deal. He can strike, work from the clinch and wrestle, although his striking is clearly his specialty. He’s been beating quality competition in Cage Warriors and looks significantly more polished.

The biggest problem for Balletto is that I don’t think he has one obvious area where he can exploit Clancy. Clancy should be able to beat him on the feet, and if necessary, I believe he can take Balletto down and potentially submit him. Clancy is the clear pick.

Ron Humphrey vs. Alexis Miranda

Ron Humphrey only has four professional fights, but he also had four amateur fights, so there’s more experience here than the professional record suggests. Almost all of those fights have ended in the first round, and Humphrey has won every one of them. He’s quick, powerful and dangerous with both punches and kicks, while also showing the ability to get takedowns.

We even got a small look at his cardio in the fight that made it into the second round. Humphrey continued getting takedowns and eventually earned the knockout with ground-and-pound, so he didn’t immediately fall apart once he was forced beyond five minutes.

Alexis Miranda has a good-looking record, but it’s been built against weak competition. His striking doesn’t impress me, his stance and base don’t look particularly strong, and when he stepped up against Anuar Aburto, he struggled badly with the increased level of competition.

Aburto’s length and reach made that a different matchup than this one, but the important takeaway was how Miranda responded when the competition improved. He didn’t look good. Humphrey is still inexperienced, but I see significantly more upside. Humphrey is the pick.

Nick Galanti vs. Carlos Petruzzella

Carlos Petruzzella’s 15-1 record looks great until you start digging into it. He’s piled up victories fighting for Samurai Fight House, then stepped up to LFA and was finished in the first round. After that experience, he went right back to Samurai Fight House and picked up two more wins against easier competition.

Nick Galanti has been proving himself against much better competition in CFFC. He recently went through a grueling five-round war with Austin Clayton. I didn’t personally think Galanti deserved the decision, but it was a close fight, and going through that type of battle tells me much more than beating another overmatched opponent.

Galanti is a good wrestler who applies relentless pressure when he’s able to establish control. We’ve also seen him maintain that pressure late into fights, including getting a ground-and-pound finish with roughly a minute remaining in the third round.

This is a classic case where the records don’t tell the entire story. Galanti has been tested at a much higher level, and he’s the clear pick.

DWCS Week 3 Main Event: Bella Mir vs Alex Apodaca

Bella Mir probably makes this look quick and easy. The UFC clearly has its eyes on Mir, and it’s easy to understand why. She’s an elite wrestler who can dominate with control once the fight hits the ground, but she’s also dangerous enough with submissions to end fights quickly.

Mir isn’t much of a striker at this point, but I don’t think she’ll need to be against Alex Apodaca. Apodaca doesn’t offer much on the feet that should scare Mir, and she hasn’t shown much finishing ability.

The only concern would be if Mir surprisingly struggles to secure that first takedown. Apodaca has experience going the distance in MMA fights, so the longer she keeps it standing, the more interesting things could become. I don’t expect that to happen. Mir should get the early takedown and find the submission.

**************************************************

Looking for more free sports picks and sports betting tips?

Latest Betting Odds and Public Action: Vegas lines updated in real time, including who the public is betting on.

Last Minute Handicapping Advice: Check out our extensive library of handicapping tips and advice from professional Vegas handicappers (we also recommend taking the time to look over our sports betting tips video library)

Want an expert opinion? Check out the latest Free Sports Picks and Best Bets from our team of expert sports handicappers.

Make sure to bookmark all the above!

DWCS Week 3 Betting Preview and Odds!
