John Deere Classic Course: TPC Deere Run<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The John Deere Classic <\/strong>returns to TPC Deere Run<\/strong>, one of the PGA Tour’s most birdie-friendly\u00a0venues. This par-71 layout measures just over 7,250 yards <\/strong>and features rolling fairways,\u00a0elevation changes, and large Bentgrass greens that encourage aggressive play. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the course\u00a0offers plenty of scoring opportunities, players still need to be precise with their wedges and short\u00a0irons to take full advantage.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TPC Deere Run rewards players who consistently give themselves birdie chances. Reachable par-5s, several short par-4s, and receptive greens often lead to winning scores well beyond 20- under par<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Distance is helpful, but it’s far from a requirement, as many past champions have relied on elite iron play and hot putting rather than overpowering the course.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although low scores are expected, the course can still punish mistakes with strategically placed\u00a0 bunkers, creeks, and thick rough lining several holes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The closing stretch offers opportunities to\u00a0make a late charge, but players must avoid careless errors if they want to stay in contention.\u00a0Expect another shootout where aggressive golf, sharp approach play, and a confident putter will\u00a0 determine this year’s champion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

John Deere Classic<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong>: Players That Can Trip You Up<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Keith Mitchell <\/strong>is being priced like a Top 4 contender, but the profile just doesn\u2019t support it. His\u00a0putting has been mediocre at +0.17 strokes gained <\/strong>over the last three months, and that\u2019s simply not good enough on a course where birdie conversion is critical. He also hasn\u2019t finished better\u00a0than 18th here in his last three appearances. At this number, you\u2019re paying for upside that hasn\u2019t\u00a0 translated to this venue. He\u2019s an easy fade.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chris Gotterup <\/strong>had to be near the top of the odds board because of the field, but I\u2019m still not\u00a0buying it. His recent finishes of 27th, 43rd, and 30th <\/strong>don\u2019t resemble the form of a betting\u00a0 favorite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Course history doesn\u2019t help either, with a 21st and a missed cut <\/strong>in his last two appearances. Just like last week, his biggest weapon\u2014elite driving distance\u2014is largely\u00a0 neutralized on a shorter course where precision matters more than power. I don\u2019t see the value.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jordan Spieth <\/strong>is another big name I\u2019m staying away from this week. His putting has completely\u00a0abandoned him over the last month, losing -0.64 strokes gained<\/strong>, one of the worst marks in the field. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s especially concerning on a course where you have to make birdies to contend. He\u2019s\u00a0also finished outside the Top 50 in each of his last three tournaments<\/strong>, showing very little positive momentum. Until the putter heats back up, he\u2019s a fade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

John Deere Classic<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong>: DraftKings Darlings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Emiliano Grillo ($7,300) <\/strong>has been one of the most reliable course horses in this field. He finished runner-up here last year <\/strong>and was also runner-up in 2022<\/strong>, proving this layout fits his\u00a0game perfectly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He enters the week on four straight made cuts<\/strong>, including finishes of 20th and\u00a0 23rd <\/strong>in his last two starts. His putter has also come alive, gaining +0.41 strokes <\/strong>over the last 30\u00a0days, and his driving accuracy remains one of his biggest strengths. With form and elite course\u00a0 history, Grillo is a tremendous value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kevin Yu ($7,300) <\/strong>clearly loves this golf course, posting finishes of 21st, 20th, and 6th <\/strong>over the\u00a0last three years. The putter has been the one concern this season, but his driving and approach\u00a0play have been outstanding, consistently giving him birdie opportunities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sometimes course\u00a0comfort outweighs a statistical weakness, and that could easily be the case here. At this price, Yu\u00a0has plenty of upside if the putter cooperates just enough.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Denny McCarthy ($8,200) <\/strong>is one of the safest DFS plays in the field thanks to his incredible\u00a0 track record at this event. He\u2019s finished inside the Top 11 in four straight appearances <\/strong>and\u00a0comes in off a solid 14th-place finish <\/strong>last week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As always, the putter is his biggest weapon,\u00a0gaining +0.77 strokes <\/strong>over the last three months, and when he gets rolling on the greens, he can\u00a0contend with anyone. Course history plus elite putting make McCarthy a premium DFS target\u00a0 this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
