Cagliari vs Napoli Analysis<\/h2>\n

Napoli come into Monday night\u2019s game against Cagliari off the back of some excellent results of late, drawing against both Barcelona in the Europa League and current Serie A champions Inter Milan in back-to-back games over the last week and are now unbeaten in the league since December.<\/p>\n

Cagliari meanwhile has just one win over their last five across both league and cup, but that sole win did come against an excellent Atalanta team on the road just two weeks ago.<\/p>\n

Napoli won the reverse fixture in Cagliari 2-0 back at the end of September and will no doubt look for a repeat of that here as they try to keep pressure up at the top of the league.<\/p>\n

Napoli\u2019s Stout Defense<\/h3>\n

While Napoli are no doubt having an excellent season all-round this year, currently just three points off the top with a game in hand, it\u2019s in their defense where the \u2018Partenopei\u2019 have really shined this season.<\/p>\n

Napoli have allowed the fewest goals all season in Serie A, averaging just 0.68 goals per game to opponents this year, with each of their last four road victories coming to nil as well. Even the indomitable Barcelona needed a penalty in midweek to crack this stout Napoli defensive line.<\/p>\n

History Against Cagliari<\/h3>\n

After a really poor start to the season which saw the Sardinians win just one of their opening 19 matches in league action, Cagliari have turned that around of late to lose just one of their last six matches in Serie A, winning three of them outright, as they look to pull themselves out of the relegation quagmire.<\/p>\n

However, while they\u2019ve no doubt stepped it up a notch over 2022, Walter Mazzarri\u2019s side have a terrible record against Napoli over the last few seasons, winning just one of their previous 23 H2H\u2019s against them.<\/p>\n

Even worse for Cagliari is the fact that they failed to score a single goal against Napoli in over half of those games as well and enter Monday\u2019s game remaining scoreless in eight of their last ten defeats in Serie A also.<\/p>\n

Napoli vs Cagliari Prediction<\/h2>\n

The \u2018Napoli to win to nil\u2019 prop tonight is going off at around a +162 and that\u2019s the way we\u2019re going to look for Monday.<\/p>\n

As stated previously, Napoli have the best defense in Serie A this season by a long stretch and that defense has been even better on the road this year as well, allowing just 0.67 gpg away from home.<\/p>\n

In terms of overall defensive data as well, there\u2019s simply been Napoli and everyone else this year in Serie A, as the \u2018Gli Azzurri\u2019 have put absolute daylight between themselves and everyone else in the league in terms of expected goals against average this season, posting a league best 0.70 xGA this season compared with a league average of 1.36 xGA, almost half.<\/p>\n

A tough reverse leg fixture looms against Barcelona for Napoli on Thursday night but even so, we don\u2019t envision a lookahead spot in this one as a win here on Monday would put Napoli top of the league, at least until Inter\u2019s game on Friday, and the chance to win their first Scudetto title in over 30 years likely means we get a best effort from Napoli later tonight.<\/p>\n
