Tottenham’s Current Form<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Maybe this is a good spot on the schedule for Spurs, who could use all of the help they can get these days. Catching Aston Villa between semifinal legs of the Europa League vs. Nottingham Forest, and needing to make up a 1-0 deficit in the second leg at Birmingham on Thursday, could serve as a bit of a distraction for Unai Emery\u2019s side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tottenham just won for the first time in sixteen matches last week at bottom-of-table Wolves, yet weren\u2019t able to make up any ground on West Ham or Nottingham Forest in Spurs\u2019 attempt to drag itself clear of the drop zone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Enough damage to survival hopes might have already been done, and while winning the battle last weekend at Molineux, Spurs might have also lost the war with injuries to Dominic Solanke and Xavi Simons, two of the few creative elements on the squad, now slated to miss an extended period (in Simons\u2019 case also costing him a place on the Dutch squad at the World Cup).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Though there has been a slight uptick in form (4 points out of a possible 9) under Roberto De Zerbi, Spurs hardly impressed in last week\u2019s win and remain in grave danger of the dreaded drop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Aston Villa’s Current Form<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Although the Europa League distraction is present, Villa will also be well-advised to keep its eye on the EPL table, where its current fifth-place position and almost surefire spot into the Champions League next fall isn\u2019t quite secured as of yet, as a tricky closing fixture list could cause the Villans to slump. Yet most of Villa\u2019s efforts this season would seem good enough to see of Tottenham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With this as the backdrop, the risk with a Villa recommendation is that aforementioned look-ahead to the second leg of the Europa League semis later this week, but as long as that doesn\u2019t prove a distraction, Villa has plenty to snatch all three points here, especially with Ollie Watkins (still looking to impress Thomas Tuchel for a place in the England World Cup squad) still in good scoring form and the hero of the recent win over Sunderland, winter portal add Tammy Abraham, providing extra frontline spark as needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Aston Villa vs Tottenham Prediction<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Villa, which won the reverse fixture over Tottenham (then under Thomas Frank) 2-1 on October 19 in London, looks especially good value on the win price at +115, which would be our definite first recommendation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We\u2019d also look to enhance the return on a Villa Halftime\/Fulltime at +250 or thereabouts. Meanwhile, if looking for another supplemental wager, might also take a long look at an in-form Watkins to score a goal at +160.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
