PSG’s Current Form<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Luis Enrique has already sounded the alarm at PSG, warning his troops not to fall into a \u201ctrap\u201d in the second leg of the Champions League quarterfinals on Tuesday at Anfield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As long as memories don\u2019t dull, the recollection of Liverpool fighting back from an 0-3 deficit in the 2019 Champions League semis vs Barcelona to famously win 4-0 in the return leg will always be mentioned whenever the Reds are at home and looking to overcome a deficit in the second leg of knockout competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yet this isn\u2019t Jurgen Klopp\u2019s Liverpool of seven years ago or even Arne Slot\u2019s EPL winners from last season, and the various Liverpool supporters who believe their side is back on track after Saturday\u2019s 2-0 win over Fulham remind a bit of those Spurs backers who thought all was well again after the recent win over Atletico de Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League knockout, not considering that Atleti entered North London on cruise control with a 5-2 edge after the first leg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fulham is one of several mid-table EPL sides liable to lose their nerve at Anfield, but we doubt that applies to PSG, which has shifted gears in the spring as it did last year when romping to the Champions League trophy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So comprehensive was the first-leg win at Parc des Princes last week, when Liverpool didn\u2019t record one single, solitary shot on goal, that the thought of a compete reversal six days later seems a bit unlikely, especially as Luis Enrique has gone to pains to remind his troops not to pull back on the accelerator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Remember, PSG was in a similar position a few weeks ago on enemy soil at Chelsea, taking a comfy lead into the second leg of their Champs League eliminator before taking care of Liam Rosenior\u2019s side with dispatch, 3-0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Liverpool’s Current Form<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
As for Liverpool, after Mo Salah was reintroduced to the fold on the weekend and scoring vs. Fulham after not featuring at PSG last week, we would at least expect to see him on the pitch, and it’s also doubtful under-fire Slot sticks with his altered deployments from the first leg, when abandoning his normal four-at-the-back defense instead for three-at-the-back and two wings in an effective five-man defense that did nothing other than allow PSG to boss the match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Top-choice keeper Alisson also remains out, though Giorgi Mamardashvili has deputized rather effectively in his absence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For the return leg, PSG hasn\u2019t had an intervening Ligue Un match, and brings a five-match win streak (in all competitions) into Anfield, outscoring opposition 17-3 across that stretch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The margin should have been greater in the first leg, and for the second leg, Luis Enrique will have top threat Bradley Barcola available after he has missed recent weeks with an ankle sprain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is also a much better position than PSG was in last March entering a second leg at Anfield down 0-1 vs. a better Liverpool before winning and advancing on PKs. Though Ballon d\u2019Or winner Ousmane Demb\u00e9l\u00e9 was wasteful last week at Parc des Princes, he shouldn\u2019t lack for more chances, and attacking riches are everywhere for PSG after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue scored in the first leg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Liverpool vs PSG Prediction<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
It is rare to get PSG at this sort of a plus price (+155) on a straight win, and even though it has some cushion into Anfield, form has been so rampant lately, and the gap so wide between these two last week, that we have to jump at that sort of value, especially after PSG did much the same in the second leg at Chelsea last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We could stop there at the PSG straight-win on the recommendations, but if looking for something else on supplemental wagers, with Liverpool likely to push forward and leaving itself exposed to counters, \u201cover\u201d 3.5 goals at +105 could tempt, while PSG Halftime\/Fulltime at +275 or thereabouts might interest as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After missing opportunities in the first leg, Demb\u00e9l\u00e9 at +130 to make amends and score a goal in the second leg might be worth a look as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
