The Valspar Championship <\/strong>is played at the Copperhead Course at Innisbrook Resort<\/strong>, one\u00a0 of the most underrated and challenging layouts on the PGA Tour. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike typical Florida courses,\u00a0Copperhead features tree-lined fairways, elevation changes, and tight landing areas<\/strong>, making it more of a strategic, shot-maker\u2019s test than a bomber\u2019s paradise. The course plays as a par-71\u00a0 around 7,300 yards<\/strong>, with long par-4s and limited scoring opportunities.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accuracy off the tee is critical, as missing the fairway brings thick rough and difficult angles into play. This is widely considered a second-shot golf course<\/strong>, where approach play and positioning\u00a0 matter more than distance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The greens are well-protected and require precise iron shots, while\u00a0scrambling becomes essential when greens are missed.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The closing stretch, known as the \u201cSnake Pit\u201d (holes 16\u201318)<\/strong>, is one of the toughest finishes on\u00a0Tour and often decides the tournament. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With limited easy holes and very few chances to go low, this is typically a grind where patience and consistency win out. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expect a winning score in the\u00a0 low double-digits under par, with players needing a complete all-around game to contend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Valspar Championship: Players That Can Trip You Up<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Patrick Cantlay <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cantlay comes in with a big name and a high price tag, but the form just hasn\u2019t been there. He\u2019s\u00a0finished outside the Top 30 in his last three events <\/strong>and hasn\u2019t played this course since 2017.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the last 30 days, he ranks just 20th in the field in total strokes gained<\/strong>, yet he\u2019s still priced\u00a0like a top-tier contender. At that number, you\u2019re paying for past reputation more than current\u00a0 form.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ben Griffin <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Griffin\u2019s season is trending in the wrong direction. He\u2019s coming off two straight missed cuts<\/strong>,\u00a0and the underlying stats are even more concerning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

His driving has been off and his iron play\u00a0 hasn\u2019t been sharp<\/strong>, which is a dangerous combination on a course that demands accuracy off the tee and precision into the greens. Until those areas improve, he\u2019s tough to trust.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Austin Smotherman\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Smotherman has shown flashes this season, but the inconsistency is hard to ignore. He\u2019s recorded\u00a0 three Top-13 finishes<\/strong>, but also has three missed cuts and a withdrawal<\/strong>, making him very much a boom-or-bust option. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

His putting and short game have been weak<\/strong>, which is a major\u00a0 red flag on a course where scrambling is key. Too volatile to rely on this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Valspar Championship: DraftKings Darlings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Zach Bauchou ($6,700) <\/strong>has quietly been one of the steadiest players in this price range. He\u2019s\u00a0made every cut this season and is gaining +0.35 strokes on approach<\/strong>, with solid numbers across the board outside of driving accuracy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The upside may be limited, but in a weak field, getting four rounds is extremely valuable. He\u2019s a high-floor option who should be around for the\u00a0 weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

John Parry ($7,300) <\/strong>just keeps delivering. He\u2019s made all six cuts this season and is coming off\u00a0an 8th-place finish in his last start. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There aren\u2019t any glaring weaknesses in his game\u2014everything\u00a0 is steady across the board, and while the putting could improve slightly, it hasn\u2019t held him back.\u00a0He\u2019s one of the most reliable DFS plays in this range again this week.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ryo Hisatsune ($8,600) <\/strong>brings both form and upside to the table. He ranks 6th in total strokes\u00a0gained <\/strong>in this field and already has four Top 13 finishes this season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also finished 4th here\u00a0last year, showing clear comfort with the course. With strong all-around play and proven results,\u00a0Hisatsune is a high-ceiling option worth paying up for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
