Galatasaray might be feeling left with some unfinished business after leaving several scoring opportunities that could have provided a bit more cushion into Wednesday night. Dangerous striker Victor Osimhen was among those a bit miffed that Galatasaray didn\u2019t do a bit more with its opportunities last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Galatasaray detractors are pointing to the 5-2 lead the runaway Turkish leaders let slip away in the second leg of the last knockout phase at Juventus, only to pull back a result in 30 minutes of extra time thanks to goals from Osimhen on 105 minutes and Baris Alper Yilaz with the clincher on 119 minutes, as evidence the Galatasaray can’t be trusted. Road form in Europe has never been a strength, either, with a 3-0 win at then-struggling Ajax on November 5 a rare success away froim Istanbul in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We\u2019ll see if Galatasaray maintains its normal higher defensive line, which should present some chances for Liverpool. It did in the first half-hour last Tuesday when the Reds, as their custom this season, proved wasteful. But there is plenty of high-level experience in the Galatasaray side aside from Osimhen, the leading Serie A scorer a few years ago at Napoli; Mauro Icardi (Inter & PSG), Leroy San\u00e9 (Bayern Munich), and Ilkay Gundogan (Man City & Barcelona) all have experience at the highest levels in Europe and in this competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Liverpool<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Safe to say Arne Slot is feeling a bit of pressure at Liverpool as the EPL title defense hasn\u2019t gone exactly to plan, and last weekend\u2019s 1-1 at Anfield vs. a recently-moribund Spurs on top of a recent 2-1 setback vs. bottom-of-table Wolves has turned up the heat considerably.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The influx of new signings falling short of expectations (save perhaps Hugo Ekitike) hasn\u2019t helped, and Liverpool have so often failed to convince this season that we are reluctant to trust them overturning this deficit without some real difficulty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Liverpool vs Galatasaray Prediction<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
We\u2019re suggesting a bit of caution at Anfield on Wednesday night. The accepted narrative for this Champions League second leg fixture seems to be that Liverpool will have no problem overturning the 1-0 deficit from last week in Istanbul, but we’re not subscribing to that notion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We certainly would not be shocked if extra time was needed to settle this result, and with that said, getting a +1.5-goal head start with Galatasaray (+110) looks like a good idea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
