Golden Knights vs Avalanche Analysis<\/h2>\n

The Colorado Avalanche enter Wednesday night\u2019s game against the Vegas Golden Knights as the best team in the league right now with a 34-9-4 overall record.<\/p>\n

The Golden Knights meanwhile will be looking to put together just their third consecutive home win tonight after a full week off after a brutal 6-0 road loss at Calgary.<\/p>\n

This will be the teams’ second meeting this season after the Golden Knights won in Colorado 3-1 back on October 26th.<\/p>\n

Colorado\u2019s Explosive Offense<\/h3>\n

Not only are the Colorado Avalanche coming into this one as the No. 1 team in the NHL right now, they\u2019re also one of the top offensive teams in the league right now as well.<\/p>\n

The Avalanche rank No. 2 in the league on total goals scored this season at 4.00 gpg and are tied for the most power play goals this season as well.<\/p>\n

With 3.43 goals scored on average over their last seven games also, it\u2019s a record that certainly doesn\u2019t appear to be slowing down anytime soon either.<\/p>\n

Golden Knights Look to Get Better at Home<\/h3>\n

While the Golden Knights have one of the best road records in the West this season, their home form has left a lot to be desired.<\/p>\n

Vegas is just 14-10-2 at home this year and has gone just 3-5 over their last 8 games inside the T-Mobile Arena as well.<\/p>\n

The Knights will be hoping the second half of the season breeds a lot more success at home than the first did as they look to make a big push in the West.<\/p>\n

Golden Knights vs Avalanche Prediction<\/h2>\n

It\u2019s been an interesting season data-wise between these two team\u2019s contrasting fortunes this year.<\/p>\n

Colorado, despite their excellent offense to start the year, have been somewhat fortunate according to underlying data. The Avalanche rank just 17th on the season in terms of overall expected goals this year as they\u2019ve benefitted from a +21 actual vs. expected goal differential this season, the fifth-highest in the league.<\/p>\n

Vegas meanwhile are at 0, meaning they\u2019ve benefitted from no such fortune, but they do own the league\u2019s third-highest expected goals rating this season behind only the Florida Panthers and Toronto Maple Leafs, so their offense definitely appears to be getting short-changed somewhat behind only the tenth-highest scoring record in the league this season.<\/p>\n

If that first half of the season starts to regress into the second half here on Wednesday for the Avalanche, which it simply has to at some point, we see some value taking the home side here on Wednesday in the Golden Knights.<\/p>\n
