Inter Milan vs Liverpool Analysis<\/h2>\n

Inter Milan had been cruising, winning eight straight Serie A games from November to January, keeping six clean sheets along the way. However, there were a lot of layups along the way including clean sheet wins over Venezia, Spezia, Cagliari, Salernitana and Torino. The concern I have with Inter is their performances against the better teams in the league.<\/p>\n

Over their last four games, they have played three of the Top-5 teams in the league and failed to win any of them. They now find themselves looking up, one point behind AC Milan, although they do have a game in hand. Still, those performances are worrisome.<\/p>\n

Starting with a 0-0 draw at Atalanta in a very evenly played game, Inter then lost at home to AC Milan 1-2 before settling for another draw, 1-1 at Napoli this past weekend. Although Napoli probably deserved to get the win in that game as xG (expected goals) showed a final tally of Napoli 1.88 \u2013 0.77 Inter.<\/p>\n

Those three games are a reminder that Inter is far from an elite team and highlights their season-long performance against the Top-6 teams in the league in which they have just a 2-5-2 record. They failed to score more than one goal in 67% of those games (six of nine) while keeping just one single clean sheet.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s also worth noting that in the UCL group stage, they finished 2nd, beating up on Sheriff Tiraspol and Shakhtar Donetsk, as they should, but they lost both games against Real Madrid without scoring a goal in either game.<\/p>\n

Liverpool Poised to Make a Run<\/h3>\n

Liverpool did what they had to over the weekend, winning 1-0 at Burnley and although I\u2019m sure they would have liked a more comfortable win, they still got the job done. That was the 4th straight win for the Reds, allowing just one goal in those four wins, which is something we have grown accustomed to from Liverpool as they are once again playing great defense on the season.<\/p>\n

They have allowed just 19 goals in the EPL thru 24 games and just 0.96 xGA per game, ranking 4th and 3rd, respectively. Offensively though, they have scored a league-high 61 goals and average 2.55 xG per game, also the highest in the league. They generate 18.9 shots per game with 7.0 on goal, both ranking as the best in the league while allowing just 8.3 shots and 3.0 on goal, both ranking only behind Manchester City.<\/p>\n

Inter Milan vs Liverpool Prediction<\/h2>\n

Comparing Liverpool\u2019s EPL season numbers vs Inter Milan\u2019s Serie A numbers doesn\u2019t show too much difference between the teams, but you have to remember Liverpool is competing in the best league in the world compared to Serie A, which has a handful of good teams, but then drops off a cliff in terms of talent.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Liverpool has the pedigree needed to win big games as they showed in the group stage. Their group was much tougher than Inter Milan, and they went a perfect 6-0 against a very good Porto team, defensive-minded Atletico Madrid, and Serie A leaders, AC Milan.<\/p>\n

Liverpool\u2019s line-up is back to full strength with the return of Salah and Mane from AFCON, both back in the starting XI over the weekend against Burnley and that will likely spell trouble for Inter.<\/p>\n
