Marte has seen a huge jump in barrel rate recently, improving his 17.1-percent seasonal rate to 25-percent during the last two weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n San Diego Padres starting pitcher Yu Darvish will be making his first start of the 2025 campaign tonight after recovering from an elbow injury. Marte has dominated Darvish historically, going 11-for-38 (.289) with two home runs and four free passes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Darvish can’t be expected to pitch very deep into this contest and the Padres bullpen is heavily taxed after using five different relievers yesterday and four different relievers on both Friday and Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Marte is a switch-hitter that has thrived against right-handed pitching this season with .313 batting average and .631 slugging percentage.
