St Louis Cardinals<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Cardinals are in the midst of a brutal stretch of playing 15 games in 14 days. St Louis does not have a scheduled day off until July 3, and some of that attrition was evident over the last two days against the Cubs. The Cardinals were shut-out at home in back-to-back games, generating four hits on Wednesday and three hits on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Busch Stadium traditionally plays as a pitcher-friendly park, but the Cardinals’ lineup has developed a pretty notable home vs road split this season. St Louis is hitting .265 at home (No. 5 in MLB) with a .332 on-base percentage (No. 8) and a 112 wRC+ (No. 11). It’s been a different story on the road as the Cardinals are hitting .241 (No. 14) with a 94 wRC+ (No. 19) away from Busch Stadium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We mentioned that Busch Stadium tends to be a pitcher-friendly park, and Sonny Gray has taken full advantage of that. He is 5-1 with a 2.76 ERA at home, compared to 2-1 with a 5.88 ERA on the road. In his last road start against the Brewers, he allowed six runs on eight hits in 4.1 innings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cleveland Guardians<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

We’re expecting to see a focused and motivated effort out of the Guardians on Friday after their series with Toronto went off the rails. Cleveland’s pitchers hit Vladimir Guerrero Jr. on back-to-back days, and the Blue Jays’ retaliated by hitting Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00edrez on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keep an eye on his status because Ramirez is such a big part of the Guardians’ lineup, but manager Stephen Vogt made it pretty clear that he would have his team’s attention after Cleveland committed four errors on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cleveland’s Luis L. Ortiz has enjoyed pitching at Progressive Field where he has a 3.00 ERA with a 1.30 WHIP compared to a 5.18 ERA with a 1.48 WHIP on the road. Ortiz is coming off a fantastic outing against the Athletics where he did not allow a run and struck out ten in 6.0 innings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
