Philadelphia Phillies<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Mets’ recent slide has allowed the Phillies to take a 1.5-game lead in the NL East entering Wednesday. Philadelphia’s bats were alive against the Mets over the weekend, but outside of that series, the Phillies’ offense has been sputtering a bit. Since Memorial Day, the Phillies are hitting .247 (No. 14 in MLB) with a 98 wRC+ (No. 16) while scoring an average of 4.19 runs per game (No. 20).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Philadelphia’s lineup has not been great against left-hand pitching this season, particularly in the month of June with Bryce Harper missing some time. The Phillies are hitting .238 against lefties (No. 18 in MLB) with a .314 on-base percentage (No. 15) and a 87 wRC+ (No. 22) in June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wheeler has been fantastic for the Phillies this season, but the Astros’ lineup has enjoyed a small level of success against him. Houston’s current lineup is hitting .270 in 79 plate appearances against Wheeler with eight extra-base hits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike Wheeler’s matchup against the Astros’ lineup, Houston’s Colton Gordon will have the element of unfamiliarity on his side. This will be Philadelphia’s first time seeing the Astros’ rookie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gordon has settled into his role nicely over the last few weeks. In his last three starts, he has a 2.81 ERA with 14 strikeouts compared to just two walks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
