| TV:<\/td> | CBS, Golf Channel<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n Charles Schwab Challenge Course: Colonial Country Club<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\nThe 2025 Charles Schwab Challenge returns to Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, one\u00a0of the most historic and respected venues on the PGA Tour. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n Known as \u201cHogan\u2019s Alley\u201d in honor\u00a0of Ben Hogan, the five-time winner here, Colonial is a par-70 layout playing 7,289 yards, and it\u00a0rewards precision, strategy, and ball control over raw power. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n The course\u2019s signature stretch\u2014the\u00a0 \u201cHorrible Horseshoe\u201d (holes 3, 4, and 5)\u2014features a brutal combination of long par-4s and a\u00a0 demanding par-3 that can make or break a player\u2019s round.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n Recent renovations by Gil Hanse have modernized the course while staying true to its classic\u00a0feel, preserving the narrow, tree-lined fairways and small Bentgrass greens that demand creative\u00a0shot-making and elite approach play. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n Players who excel in scrambling and mid-iron control tend\u00a0 to thrive here. With favorable weather expected, the course should play firm and fast, placing\u00a0even more emphasis on finding the right angles and avoiding costly mistakes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n The Charles\u00a0Schwab Challenge remains a true test of traditional golf, where brains beat brawn and course\u00a0 management is everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n Charles Schwab Challenge Marquee Holes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\n1st Hole 585 Yard Par 5<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\nI love starting off with a Par 5 to give guys a chance to grab a birdie right at the start of the round. The fairway doglegs to the right and it has fairway bunkers on the left so accuracy is\u00a0important, but guys won\u2019t have problems fading it a bit to the right off the tee. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n The green has 4\u00a0bunkers surrounding it, but none are that difficult to get up and down from so guys will be happy\u00a0 to go for it in 2 shots even if the bunkers gobble up the ball. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n Guys will have to be aggressive\u00a0 from the beginning as Par isn\u2019t a great score on this hole, I think this is a great way to start the\u00a0round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n 18th Hole Rating 5.9\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\nI like this Par 4 as a closing hole even though it\u2019s not too difficult. The fairway is narrow and it\u00a0bends to the left, but guys are going to bomb it left over the trees to hit the fairway, but anything\u00a0pulled to the left is going to create a troublesome second shot. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n The green has bunkers all around\u00a0it with water on the left so there are some tricky parts to this hole. It\u2019s not super dramatic, but\u00a0wayward tee shots to the left will bring bogey or worse into play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n Charles Schwab Challenge: Players That Can Trip You Up<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\nJordan Spieth<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\nHe missed the cut last week, and the last 2 years he\u2019s finished 37th and MC here. He had a string\u00a0of good finishes, but he\u2019s fallen off the last couple weeks, and in a short field, he\u2019s priced as a\u00a0Top 5 guys, and I don\u2019t see it. He\u2019s a stay away for me this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n Tommy Fleetwood\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\nWhen do we ever feel confident with playing Fleetwood as a Top 2 priced golfer? The answer is\u00a0 never. We have to go back to 2022 to find the last time he finished 2nd, and even though it\u2019s not\u00a0 a great field, it has good enough golfers to have some surprises at the top of the leaderboard. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n I\u00a0can\u2019t poke holes in his game, his number in all categories are good, but he just can never put it\u00a0 together to contend for the win. He\u2019s too expensive this week, I\u2019ll stay away.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n Hideki Matsuyama<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\nIt hasn\u2019t been a great year for Matsuyama after he won The Sentry as he hasn\u2019t cracked the Top\u00a0 10 since then, and he has 3 missed cuts in the last 5 tournaments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n His numbers are good, just like\u00a0 Fleetwood\u2019s, but when he\u2019s priced as a Top 5 player I just can\u2019t invest in him when he hasn\u2019t\u00a0shows us Top 10 upside all season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n Charles Schwab Challenge: DraftKings Darlings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\nBrian Campbell $6400\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\nHis biggest weakness is his lack of length off the tee, but I don\u2019t see that as a big issues at this\u00a0 7200 yard course. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n His approach numbers and putting numbers are incredible the last 30 days,\u00a0and he\u2019s made the cut in 4 out of 5 tournaments. If he makes the cut again, he\u2019ll give us big\u00a0 returns.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n Kevin Roy $6600\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\nHe\u2019s made the cut 4 straight tourneys, and at this price, that\u2019s good enough for me. This course\u00a0isn\u2019t that difficult, and it\u2019s a weak field so someone that\u2019s making the cut 4 times in a row at this\u00a0price is worth it. His approaches are the concern, but his putting has been good enough to make\u00a0 up for it.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n Sam Ryder $6800\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\nHe missed the first cut of the season, and then the next week he finished 13th so I\u2019m back on the\u00a0Sam Ryder wagon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n Only 1 missed cut this season, he\u2019s been the best draftkings darling of the\u00a0 season by far, and it\u2019s been his hot putter that\u2019s made the difference as he\u2019s +0.75 strokes gained\u00a0 putting.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n Full Lineup: Brian Campbell $6400, Kevin Roy $6600, Sam Ryder $6800, Ryan Gerard $7900,\u00a0Davis Riley $8600, Scottie Scheffler $13700<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n |
