After starting pitcher Tanner Houck gave up 11 runs in 2.1 innings, Red Sox manager Alex Cora gave everyone else (including the bullpen) the rest of the night off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Brayan Bello is 2-0 with a 2.01 ERA in four starts after he missed the first month of the season. He has some great box score numbers thus far, but a closer look under the hood does not paint a pretty picture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Bello’s strikeout rate has dropped from 21.8-percent to 13.8-percent. His walk rate has climbed from 9.1-percent to 12.8-percent. His expected ERA (5.53) is over three runs higher than his actual ERA (2.02). His average exit velocity has climbed from 88.5 miles per hour to 90.7 miles per hour. He didn’t allow a run in his last start against the Rangers, but he allowed five walks in 4.2 innings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Detroit Tigers<\/h3>\n\n\n\nTyler Holton is expected to serve as the opener before handing the ball to Keider Montero. This will be Holton’s first “start” of the year as the Tigers look to get him on-track after a couple rough outings from the bullpen. In his last appearance against the Rangers on Saturday, Holton allowed two hits including a home run in his lone inning of work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Montero is 1-1 with a 4.15 ERA in four starts this season. Just like Bello, he did not make his first start until the second-half of April. In his last start against the Rockies, he allowed one run on five hits with three walks in 8.0 innings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Tigers’ current roster is hitting .317 in 43 plate appearances against Bello with an 18.6-percent strikeout rate and a .342 weighted on-base average. Gleybar Torres is 7-for-21 with two doubles. Riley Greene is 3-for-6. Spencer Torkelson is 2-for-2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tigers vs Red Sox Prediction<\/h2>\n\n\n\nDetroit’s lineup is hitting .253 against right-hand pitching (No. 7 in MLB) with a .331 on-base percentage (No. 8) and a 112 wRC+ (No. 9). Comerica Park is not typically known as a hitter-friendly park, but the Tigers are top-10 in batting average, on-base percentage, walk rate and wRC+ in home games this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Over the last 14 days, the over is 9-2-1 in Detroit’s games. As of Tuesday morning, the Tigers’ team total has opened at 3.5 at DraftKings with the over juiced to -135.
