Arizona Diamondbacks<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Arizona has struggled to find consistency this season as the Diamondbacks enter Monday in fourth place in the NL West, three games behind the Giants for third. This will be the first meeting of the season between these division foes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Merrill Kelly is 3-2 this season with a 4.09 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP. In his last start against the Mets, he allowed three runs on six hits with six strikeouts and no walks in 6.1 innings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Arizona’s bullpen should be in good shape for the start of this series as Ryne Nelson was the only reliever used in Saturday’s 3-0 win over the Dodgers, while Joe Mantiply and Jos\u00e9 Castillo combined for 3.1 innings in Sunday’s loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Diamondbacks’ current roster is hitting .179 in 100 plate appearances against San Francisco’s Justin Verlander with a 28-percent strikeout rate and a .223 weighted on-base average.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

San Francisco Giants<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
San Francisco returns to Oracle Park after getting swept by the Twins in Minnesota over the weekend. The Giants are 12-5 at home this season compared to 12-12 on the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Verlander is 0-2 in eight starts with a 4.50 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP. He allowed three runs on five hits with two walks and three strikeouts in his last start against the Cubs. Verlander has allowed a home run in four of his last five starts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Much like the Diamondbacks, the Giants’ bullpen should be in good shape for the start of this series. Randy Rodr\u00edguez was the only reliever used on Saturday. San Francisco had to use five relievers in Sunday’s extra-innings loss to Minnesota, but Hayden Birdsong is the only one that threw more than 15 pitches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Giants’ current lineup is hitting .219 in 163 plate appearances against Arizona’s Merrill Kelly with an 18.4-percent strikeout rate and a .314 weighted on-base average.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Giants vs Diamondbacks Prediction<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
His box score numbers look fine, but Merrill Kelly has been playing with fire this season. Kelly enters Monday in the bottom-25th percentile among pitchers in expected ERA, expected batting average allowed, whiff rate, barrel rate and hard-hit rate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Arizona’s lineup is top-10 in hard-hit rate, average exit velocity and expected weighted on-base average. The Diamondbacks have hit the most doubles in the league this season, which is encouraging at a big stadium like Oracle Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We’re going to stay away from the full game total because both bullpens are in good shape and should have everyone available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
