The Seminoles rewarded their coach with a strong win over SMU to close the regular season. Why is that important? a) Good vibes; b) If Florida State gets past Syracuse in the opening round, the Seminoles would play SMU on Wednesday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
With Duke being on the opposite side of the bracket, Florida State’s path to a couple early wins has plenty of appeal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
These teams met in Tallahassee in January with Florida State earning a 90-74 home win over the Orange. The Seminoles also won last year’s meeting by 16 points at Syracuse. This is a tough matchup for the Orange because of their turnover woes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the 18-team ACC, Syracuse is No. 17 in turnover rate. In conference play, the Orange are turning the ball over on 18.7-percent of their possessions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In their first meeting this season, Florida State won the turnover battle 15-9. Syracuse has lost its opening round game of the ACC Tournament each of the last two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Orange went 2-12 straight-up in games played away from home this season with those two wins coming at Boston College (who didn’t qualify for the ACC Tournament) and Cal (13-18 overall; 6-14 ACC). Look for the Seminoles to take care of business in Saturday’s marquee matchup in Charlotte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
