Odds below courtesy of DraftKings Sports Book as of Wednesday, March 5:<\/p>\n\n\n\n 2024: Chris Sale, Atlanta Braves <\/p>\n\n\n\n 2023: Blake Snell, San Diego Padres<\/p>\n\n\n\n 2022: Sandy Alcantara, Miami Marlins<\/p>\n\n\n\n 2021: Corbin Burnes, Milwaukee Brewers <\/p>\n\n\n\n 2020: Trevor Bauer, Cincinnati Reds <\/p>\n\n\n\n All on eyes will be Pittsburgh Pirates phenom Paul Skenes after winning the NL Rookie of the Year in 2024. <\/p>\n\n\n\n While Skenes is the odds-on-favorite, Zack Wheeler offers better value after finishing in 2nd place in the NL Cy Young Award voting for the second time in his career (2021 & 2024). <\/p>\n\n\n\n The 34-year-old ace is coming off one of the best seasons where he posted a 16-7 record, 2.57 ERA and 224 strikeouts across 200 innings of work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Philadelphia Phillies have championship aspirations after coming up short in the NLDS at the hands of their division rivals, the New York Mets. With the addition of Jesus Luzardo (5th starter), the Phillies strength will be in their rotation and Wheeler is the headliner. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Philadelphia is in a great position to challenge the Los Angeles Dodgers and others for an NL crown as they fight for their first championship since 2008. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Wheeler is as reliable as they come with 32 starts, 212+ strikeouts and a sub-3.00 ERA in 3 of his last four seasons. <\/p>\n\n\n\n This 34-year-old two time All Star hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down and he knows this will be his best chance to finally win this elusive award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Justin Steele broke out in 2022 with a 3.18 ERA and 126 strikeouts across 119 innings of work and he finished 5th in the NL Cy Young voting in 2023 with a 16-5 record, 3.06 ERA and 176 strikeouts across just over 173 innings pitched. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Last season, he missed a month of action after injuring his hamstring on Opening Day and then ended up on the IL again in September due to elbow tendinitis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n In between that, the southpaw was still effective, posting a 3.07 ERA with 135 strikeouts across just shy of 135 innings pitched. Steele isn’t a strikeout king by any means, but he does a great job limiting hard contact and runs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Steele is projected to be the #2 starter on a Chicago Cubs team that is favored to win the NL Central and compete for a pennant.
