How bad have things gotten in Lawrence this season? Bill Self had to release a statement on Saturday after the Jayhawks’ latest loss to Texas Tech, essentially telling fans to leave the players alone and direct all criticism at him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Houston has already clinched the Big 12 regular season crown and No. 1 seed in next week’s tournament, but the Cougars still have plenty to play for on Monday night. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is senior night at the Fertitta Center and the Cougars are still playing for preferential seeding and locations in the NCAA Tournament. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Per KenPom, the top-7 teams in the country this season are all located in the same Texas\/Southeast region. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Unfortunately, not all of those teams are going to be able to stay close to home when Selection Sunday rolls around. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Someone is going to get shipped to Seattle and San Francisco, and Houston can try to avoid that with a couple more wins to close the season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We are interested in the first half over, which is lined at 62 or 62.5 at most places on Monday morning. First, Kansas may simply be a dead team walking and not interested in playing at defense tonight. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Second, Houston is likely going to alter its starting lineup a little bit for Senior Night. Those guys want to shoot and find the box score on their special night. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Cougars hosted Kansas on Senior Night last year, and Houston scored 40 points in the first half. We see this game playing out similarly to how they played at Allen Fieldhouse five weeks ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kansas enjoyed success on offense in the first half (38 points), and once Houston flipped a switch on defense, the Jayhawks stopped scoring. Kansas scored four points in the first eight minutes of the second half in that first meeting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We’re anticipating a similar script in this one – A loose, entertaining first half where both teams find the scoreboard, followed by a tighter second half where the Cougars squeeze the life out of the Jayhawks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
