There were whispers out of Bloomington that Mike Woodson seemingly saved his job with a 77-76 overtime win over Ohio State two weeks ago. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Hoosiers were coming off back-to-back 25-point losses to Iowa and Illinois, and the “Fire Woodson” chants were raining down from the student section and Assembly Hall. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Indiana has suffered another pair of back-to-back losses since that win over the Buckeyes, and a blow-out loss on Friday night in West Lafayette will likely put Woodson back on the hot seat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Purdue swept last year’s meetings with a 21-point road win in Bloomington followed by a 20-point home win at Mackey Arena. The Boilermakers have won eight of their last nine games (7-2 ATS during that span). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Purdue has not played since last Friday, so the Boilermakers have had a full week to prep for this one. Matt Painter lost Zach Edey to the NBA, but he’s been able to transform his offense without the 7-foot-4 juggernaut. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Boilermakers enter Friday No. 7 in offensive efficiency, No. 15 in effective field goal shooting, No. 11 in assist rate and No. 16 in three-point shooting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Turnovers have been Purdue’s biggest issue in recent years, but through the first ten games of the conference slate, the Boilermakers are No. 2 in the Big Ten in turnover rate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Junior point guard Braden Smith has lowered his turnover rate from 21.1-percent last year to 17.5-percent this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Smith has raised his assist rate from 38.4-percent last year to 46.8-percent this year (best in the country). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Indiana’s defense is No. 263 in turnover rate, so this should be a very comfortable matchup for Purdue’s offense. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
When these teams met in West Lafayette last season, Smith finished with 19 points on 8-for-13 shooting, with nine rebounds, four assists and four steals with only two turnovers in 36 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
