We certainly don’t agree with all of Mick Cronin’s tactics, but the bottom line is that his Bruins are set up for success heading into the second half of the Big Ten slate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over the last month, Cronin has complained about everything – Calling out his players individually for poor performances, whining about the Big Ten travel schedule and more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In case you were wondering, Cronin makes over $4 million per year to perform his job. Cronin has put all of the attention on himself, and the tactic has shown signs of working. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Bruins, particularly on offense, are playing with a lot more comfort and freedom. UCLA scored 94 points against Iowa and 85 points against Wisconsin in back-to-back home wins earlier this week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cronin complained about UCLA’s travel schedule to open conference play, but the Bruins are about to enjoy the fruit of that early-season labor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
From mid-January through mid-February, this will be the only time UCLA leaves home in four weeks and this trip to Seattle is one that the Bruins are very accustomed to making. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are reasons for optimism in Westwood, but we can’t really say the same about the Huskies at the moment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
First-year head coach Danny Sprinkle inherited a rebuilding project with Washington, and the grind of the Big Ten schedule is starting to catch up with the Huskies.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Washington started the year with some nice non-conference wins over Santa Clara and Washington State, but the Huskies are 1-7 in Big Ten play. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of those losses came by 11 points at UCLA in early-December. The Bruins only shot 50-percent from the free throw line in that contest (11-for-22), so the margin should have been even greater. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
UCLA’s defense held Washington to 38.8-percent shooting from the floor, including 3-for-16 from three-point range. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Those seven losses in conference play have come by an average of 15.9 points per game, and six of those seven losses came by double digits. We expect another one on Friday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
