“We’re soft. We’re too soft to play hard enough,” Cronin said. “The truth of it has been, it’s really hard to coach people that are delusional. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In our opinion, this total has dropped a little too far. If this total stays in the 137-point neighborhood, it will be the lowest total in any Maryland game since the season opener against Manhattan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The over is 8-4 in the Terps’ last 12 games. Both KenPom and Haslametrics have this total projected at or above 140 points. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite Coach Cronin’s criticism, the Bruins’ defense has slowed a lot of teams down, including Gonzaga and North Carolina in recent weeks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But Maryland has scored its share of points against every upper-tier opponent the Terps have played this season: 74 vs Marquette, 76 vs Villanova, 83 vs Ohio State, 78 vs Purdue, 87 vs Syracuse and 79 vs Oregon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anything in that general neighborhood should be enough to send this game over the total. Maryland won on the road at UCLA last season, so Kevin Willard and the Terps already have a good feel for UCLA’s preferred style of play. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
