Philadelphia 76ers vs Memphis Grizzlies Analysis<\/h2>\n

What a game we have Monday night as the 76ers, winners of four straight games host the Grizzlies who have won three straight games, and these two teams have emerged as legit contenders in their respective conferences.<\/p>\n

You could argue that Ja Morant and Joel Embiid are the two most impactful players in the league right now, and they\u2019ll go head to head with Philly emerging as -2 point favorites at home with a total of 220.5, and as entertaining as this game will be, our job is to make money off this battle.<\/p>\n

Grizzlies Growling<\/h3>\n

It\u2019s been an incredible season so far for Memphis as they\u2019ve dealt with injuries and COVID outbreaks en route to a 35-17 record, and three wins in a row with Ja Morant, Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson leading the way at this point.<\/p>\n

They\u2019re 4-1 against the spread their last five games and you might not think it, but they are #1 in the NBA in rebounding and blocks. I don\u2019t know if that\u2019s going to limit Embiid, but it\u2019s a good sign for them that they can bang inside with Adams and their guards and forwards. They\u2019ve scored 115 or more the last three games, and they have a day\u2019s rest after beating Washington handily on Saturday so I expect them to have a full squad and 100% effort in this one.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t pay any attention to the meeting these two teams had on Dec. 13 as it was a game that featured no Embiid and no Morant, and I\u2019ll preview my pick but saying this\u2026I won\u2019t be betting against Memphis any time soon.<\/p>\n

Embiid’s Epic Season<\/h3>\n

Embiid has been insane this season, and I won\u2019t go over his stats because that\u2019s easily found on the ol\u2019 Google. My worry with them is how dependent they are on him. You have to go back to December 15th to find a game that he didn\u2019t lead the 76ers in scoring, and my worry with them is these performances aren\u2019t translating to against the spread streaks or over\/under streaks.<\/p>\n

They\u2019re .500 in most against the spread and over\/under categories, and it\u2019s not a team I want to predict will cover. I know you can only play who the schedule gives you, but their recent wins haven\u2019t been amazing.<\/p>\n

They beat a struggling Sacramento team by two, the Lakers without LeBron, the Pelicans who are in a tailspin, and the Spurs by six who are 12 games below .500. I don\u2019t want to take away from Embiid, but I just don\u2019t trust the supporting roster to win a big game.<\/p>\n

Philadelphia 76ers vs Memphis Grizzlies Prediction<\/h3>\n

I\u2019ll gladly take Memphis with the points against almost anyone, but especially against a Philly team I\u2019m not ready to buy into yet. With Morant, Bane and Jackson in the lineup it presents a lot of problems for the 76ers and I\u2019ll take Memphis to cover and win outright.<\/p>\n

Philadelphia 76ers vs Memphis Grizzlies Preview from GoldSheet<\/h2>\n

Memphis and Ja Morant are rolling through NBA teams like Furio Giunta busting heads on Tony Soprano\u2019s slow payers, collecting the money in 15 of the last 19 games and have posted a 26-7 straight up mark in its last 33 games. Philly has been on a surge as well, winning 14 of their last 17, but have gotten \u201cthe grits\u201d only three of the last seven.<\/p>\n

Sixers might remember the spanking the Grizzlies gave them back on Dec. 13, when Memphis took a 126-91 when Philly was without the services of enforcer C Joel Embiid and G Seth Curry and made a pathetic 4 of 22 treys. Griz boss Morant was also on the sidelines that night, and note his team is 15-7 vs. the points on the road this season, with or without his presence, while the Sixers are 6-12 vs. the points last 18 at Wells Fargo Center this year.<\/p>\n

Both sides currently sitting in the 3-seed in their respective conferences, but trust Taylor Jenkins and the Grizzlies in this matchup. Expect Steven Adams to make things uncomfortable for Embiid, and Jaren Jackson Jr. should be a solid match again facing Sixer PF Tobias Harris, who Jackson outscored 22-12 and held him to 5 of 12 FGs and only 2 rebounds.Play Memphis.<\/p>\n
