Appalachian State College Football 2024 Preview: What’s the Situation?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Head Coach Shawn Clark hasn\u2019t quite brought the Mountaineers back to elite levels, but after a down \u201922 season, Appalachian St went 9-5 in \u201923.\u00a0 Expectations are that they will win the East in \u201924, with the hope of delivering Shawn his 1st<\/sup> Sun Belt title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2024 Appalachian State NCAAF AREAS TO WATCH:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The backfield is loaded.\u00a0 WR\/TE is well stocked.\u00a0 Unfortunately, just 13 total starts return to the OL, with Jack Murphy tragically passing away.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transfers from Georgia and FSU (no starts) try to fill two of the spots.\u00a0 Appalachian St had 35 defensive sacks last year.\u00a0 Many of the players return.\u00a0 The defense as a whole is decent, but only one senior is projected to start, and he\u2019s a two-time transfer.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0I think they go 5-1 or 6-0 at home, depending on the Liberty result.\u00a0 Concerns along the OL, the overall defensive makeup, and to be honest, the finishing power of the staff makes me believe they will split their six road games, putting the East title up for grabs.\u00a0 That means another good season at possibly 8-4 or 9-3.\u00a0 Maybe the backfield and the kicking game can elevate the win total.\u00a0\u00a0
